When planning our honeymoon, my new husband and I were very careful in picking our hotels. After doing research on TripAdvisor and other travel websites, we finally settled on the Country Inn & Suites in Williamsburg. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their stays, so we figured that was a pretty good indicator. I guess we figured correctly!
From the moment we pulled into the hotel, we both felt comfortable and at home. We arrived very late after a long drive, and we called the hotel to warn them of our late arrival. When we checked in, the night clerk - Jim - was very sweet and gave us our keys. Even at that late hour, he took the time to get a map out of the area and show us how to get to different places we were planning on visiting as well as stores and shops along the way. We were grateful for his help and hospitality. It was nice, too, to see that their security officer was hanging around and keeping on eye on things at the late hour, so that set us both at ease.
The room was beautifully clean, and the housekeepers did an immaculate job every day. The beds were soft and comfortable, and it was helpful to have a fridge in the room to have a cold pop or water at the end of the day. The shower was good and clean, with nice water pressure, and the lighting in the bathroom was bright.
Another highlight of the trip was Miss Ivy who worked in the breakfast area. We came down to breakfast one morning and started making our waffles, when she came out and greeted us both with a cheerful smile and a "well, good morning, you two!" She saw me taking my waffle off the iron and asked, "Would you like me to get you some sausage to go with that? You wait right here." And before I knew it, Miss Ivy was off to the kitchen area. She came back a minute or so later with some brand new, piping hot sausage patties to go with our waffles…in a little bowl just for us. It really made our day that someone seemed to care so much. This lady is a blessing to everyone she encounters; that much is for sure.
The true test for this hotel came the night that a school tour group moved in and took up residence in our hallway. I have to admit that I was nervous around 6:30-7:00pm as we were getting ready to head out for dinner. The kids were running up and down the hall with little regard to their neighbors, and their voices carried rather loudly. As we left, I made a small comment about it to the front desk clerk; she seemed unsurprised, so I'm assuming someone else had already said something. When we came back later that night, I thought for sure that the kids would be rowdy. It started off like that, and then…something changed. I peered out into the hallway to see our security guard calmly walking down the halls, just checking things out. And around 9:30 or so…everything was quiet. Perfectly serene. So I applaud the hotel on being able to handle a situation like this!! Not everyone would even make the effort to try to keep a bunch of kids quiet.
The only downside would be the internet connection, but you can't expect the best of "highspeed" in a hotel, I think. We had some issues connecting to the internet the first couple of days, but we later learned that other people were having issues as well. It turned out the network was having problems, and once that was back up and running we had no problems. We could browse with no issues, but if we tried to watch a movie on NetFlix, it was basically a fail. But that's all right.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again on a return trip to Williamsburg, and it was the perfect choice for me and my husband. Thank you!!

When my husband and I visited Williamsburg, VA in the past I mentioned to him what a nice place the County Inn and Suites looked like as we walked by on our way to the Golden Corral. A friend gave me a magazine from a rest area when she had gone to Virginia. There was an ad for the hotel at a very reasonable price. When I called the hotel, the clerk said they did have rooms available. When we arrived at the hotel we were made very welcome and everyone was very friendly. The room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Miss Ivy was the lady who helps with the breakfasts. She was so nice and helped me make waffles. The swimming pool and jacuzzi was just the right temperature too. When I used the hotel computer, I had a problem printing. One of the ladies from the hotel was very nice and showed me what the problem was. My husband and i will be coming back for a longer stay next year. Everyone of the staff makes you feel welcome.

Was in the Virginia area and decided to stay in Colonial Williamsburg. I looked at the visitors center for a Country Inn and Suites in the area.
The hotel staff at check in where very pleasant and the rooms where very clean. After shopping around town for the day it was very nice to come back to the hotel and relax in the hot tub and swim in the pool. Which the pool area was also spotless. The next morning there was an elderly women working the breakfast area that made you feel like you came to to her personal breakfast table. The breakfast was delicious as always when I stay at the Country Inn.

We stayed two nights, May 10 & 11th, 2011, and found this hotel to be an exceptional value. The rooms, lobby, pool, b'fast area etc were all very clean and well maintained. The staff provided excellent service ; a special thanks to Ms Ivy in the b'fast room. She kept the area in excellent shape and was a joy to be around, providing a great start to our day.
