We live in Florida and visit Busch Gardens Tampa all the time. We absolutely love the park. But we also love Busch Gardens Williamsburg. For those not familiar with these parks, Tampa has an African Safari theme (Congo, Egypt, Timbuktu, etc...) and Williamsburg is European themed (Germany/England/France, etc...)
We used to visit Williamsburg when we lived in NY and always make it a point to go whenever we travel up North. This year we took a family vacation in the Northern VA mountains and still traveled 3.5 hours SE to Busch Williamsburg. Tampa has a lot of great attractions, but Williamsburg has the best coasters. My favorite was Verbolten. This took the place of the Big, Bad Wolf and it is AWESOME! It is unlike any of the other coasters in any park.
In addition this park has 2 kiddie areas, one that is Sesame Street themed and the other is Dragon themed. The kids, big and small, enjoyed both areas.
Where Tampa is flat, like the rest of Florida, Williamsburg is lots of walking up and down hills, if you need a wheelchair I would recommend an electric one since pushing a wheelchair up the hills can be challenging.
It rained off and on the day we visited and we still had a great time, a little damp, but very happy.
This is a great place for a family outing.More
