Description: Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner.Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg.Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge" and to top it all off “Alain Ducasse.”

Le Yaca French Restaurant is certainly one of the best fine dining restaurants in Williamsburg, and we have been enjoying dining at Le Yaca French Restaurant for years. Le Yaca French Restaurant was established by a French Chef 38 years ago.

Le Yaca French Restaurant offers four front dining rooms, one scarlet dining room, and a large rear dining room.

By noon, nearly all four front dining rooms are filled, and we highly recommend reservations.

We both are content with the $17.00 three-course lunch, and chose French onion soup, butternut soup, pan seared flounder, grilled duck breast, and two La Profiterole à la Vanille et sa Sauce Chocolat. A bottle of Sauvignon Blanc is perfect.

Our server is perfect; the meals are perfect. Yes, ambience, romance and special occasions are all present. Except that our special occasion is a Williamsburg holiday.

One can be certain that Le Yaca French Restaurant (especially, the Thursday Leg of Lamb dinner will be necessary for our future visits.

Le Yaca French Restaurant will move January 1, 2014. We do not recommend young families with young children; however, Le Yaca French Restaurant is a fine experience for training well- behaved adolescents in the art of fine dining.

We have been frequenting Le Yaca for many years. Truly an exceptional dining experience every time we go. Nothing but the best French country cuisine. Madame comes to every table to explain the specials and to be sure each course in acceptable. From soup to entrée to desert - wow, we just can't say enough. Rarely go anywhere else when visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We love the ambience of the Colonial Taverns but instead choose to eat great food at Le Yaca.

We came on our anniversary weekend to the Kingsmill resort and spa. We played golf with another couple. They recommended Le Yaca. I thought this was a Mexican restaurant but it turned out to be a French restaurant. We were amazed that the food was wonderful. The service and the staff were helpful and very professional. The owner of the restaurant greeted us and made sure our dining experience was first rate. Her attention to detail was amazing. The ambiance of the establishment was complimented by a first rate guitarist who played classical selections. This is a place you want to put on your itinerary if you are visiting Williamsburg. This is a great place for a great dining experience.

We found out about this restaurant through Trip Advisor after we arrived in town. I called for a reservation enroute, prepared to find another option if the wait was too long. The young woman who answered was very kind and efficient and asked if it would be acceptable for us to wait at the bar until a table came available. If so, they could accommodate us as soon as we arrived, around 6:15 PM. It was acceptable and the wait was not very long. The service, food, atmosphere were excellent and the young woman who had answered the phone also waited on us. This was a belated anniversary dinner for us and we are so glad that we chose La Yaca French Restaurant! It was good to be forewarned that the shopping center where it is located looked less than fully occupied. We parked behind the little "village" shops so that it was similar to entering through someone's back door, but we did find the restaurant. Look for the rooster on the sign pointing the way. You will be glad that you did!

What a surprise! You pull into a shopping center thinking your GPS misled you again but there it is! A lovely French restaurant! Yes, the French come to the aid of Americans in Virginia again. This time to provide wonderfully prepared food. The owner threads through the tables and approaches each to make sure that your meal is to your liking. She exudes charm. Our waiter was attentive and charming without being overbearing but the food is the star. There were six of us, each with a different meal and no one was disappointed in any of their selections.
