try going to williamsburg in september-the weathers great and the place is empty-the Inn itself couldnt be better-spacious suite-really great staff there for everything you need-impeccably maintained-wonderful room service-and a great formal restaurant-i would imagine that in peak season the service wouldn't be as attentive simply because of more guests but when we were ther the experience was the bes kudos to the Williamsburg Inn

We stayed in one of the colonial houses on Francis St. last July. Found out that Margaret Thatcher had stayed in the same house years earlier. Loved the antiques and the old fashioned fell to the place but would have liked a few more electrical outlets for our modern appliances. Air conditioning worked well, especially important during the heat wave we experienced while there. Loved the convenience of walking across the street and being right in the middle of the historic area. Never used the pool, it just seemed too far to walk -- we were two blocks away from the main building. Didn't eat at the Inn, but we had breakfast across the street at the Williamsburg Lodge several times.

What a SUPERB place!!!! Beautiful grounds, WELCOMING employees who went out of their way to accomodate us, GREAT location, LARGE and VERY comfortable room and even better bathroom-which was HUGE!!! Cant say a bad thing about this place. Stayed there for 4 nights and everything was EXCEPTIONAL!!!. I have been to many hotels/inns and this has to be one of my if not FAVORITE place I have ever stayed. The decor of the whole Inn and rooms felt liked you stepped back in time and was very comforting. The breakfast was good. Within walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg and modern shops/restaurants. The bed was sooooooo comfortable that I was actually looking forward to go back to the room and I never feel like that when on vacation. Overall just a great experience and I would DEF recommed this Inn to anyone. You will be treated so nice and the employees really do make your stay that much better!!! Cant wait to visit again!!!

Chad

Room Tip: I cant imagine a bad room in this place. We stayed in 2 different rooms for 4 nights and BOTH rooms...

I stayed at Williamsburg inn July 2012. The rooms were old fashion ( wood floors, antique furniture) and very clean. The staff was very attentive, and friendly. This is the first time I stayed at a hotel or Inn that was not a chain. I was impressed enough that I will look for more like it as I travel. It has a great pool and workout area ( included in price). It has a great golf course across the street and one just a couple of blocks away. The old town of Williamsburg wa very nicely restored, with era correct people and events all around. I would rate this Inn a high 9 on a 10 scale.

We have stayed in Colonial Williamsburg numerous times and specifically at the Williamsburg Inn three times. During our most recent stay, we stayed at Providence Hall which is located in a separate building east of the Inn and proximate to the tennis courts.

We would encourage other travelers to book a package (depending on length of stay). In our current stay, we selected the Bounce Back package which included access to all historic Williamsburg sites, including the Visitor Center, and Bush Gardens/Water Country USA. One can select other packages like golf, spa and others as well as a traditional room rate.
Although our stay was for only four days, we were full of activities along with a round of golf, swimming in the pool, and excellent food at the Inn.

Regarding our lodging, Providence Hall, is a more modern facility than the other parts of the Williamsburg Inn. Yet, it still retains its privacy nestled in a very nice wood area with the tennis courts a drop shot away. The rooms are slightly dated in terms of decor. But as compared to others ( the main Inn, the Lodge or the Woodlands), the rooms are very spacious. It has a large closet, spacious bathroom and a Queen size sleep sofa apart from the King size bed. Room service is a great plus for a relaxing dinner. The staff at the Inn is very pleasant, helpfull and are great story tellers ... Many of them have been there for 25 years or more and can recount visits of many dignitaries, including QE 2!

The Golden Horseshoe (Gold) course is also on the property and is absolutely a marvelous experience. Designed by Robert Trent Jones sr and his son Rees Jones, it embodies the elements of traditional course layout and brings the topographical layout into play....including the very first island green for their signature hole # 16, a par 3. And if on a whim, you wish to play, you can rent clubs and shoees on site. This is definitely a 5 star experience.

One final item of note, is to make sure that you have dinner in one of the Taverns located around the central historic area. You can make reservations through the Inn's concierge.

We plan on returning in October for a relaxing fall break.

My husband and I, and our teenage son stayed for a few days in the Junior Suite. The room was clean and well appointed. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. The location could not have been better as it is right in the heart of the historic town. Everything was reachable by walking, shuttle bus and hotel shuttle, which was the way we went to dinner every night. The staff at the Inn were very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the pool, even though it needed a little cleaning. There were locker rooms at the pool house, which provided a place to shower and change. They were lovely and had nice amenities. You could even get a bite to eat at the pool, brought right to your lounge or table. I would definitely recommend the Inn to stay when visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We felt like we were back in time, with elegance.
