It was a wonderful get away. The room was beautiful and spacious. This "inn" had the best service, food and drinks. Our room was on the golf room side under a large tree that was gorgeous. Would love to spend more time there in the fall or at Christmas.

My family recently spend 3 days at Colonial Williamsburg and stayed at their flagship property, The Williamsburg Inn. Our entire experience was outstanding, from the greeting at the door by the friendly doormen, to the helpful front desk and Concierge staff. Our children ages 10 yrs. & 13 yrs. experienced real world class service and want to go back at Christmas time when they have many special programs and holiday offerings.

The staff helped us with our itinerary in the Historic Area, but they also provided us with several tips on experiencing fun activities in and around Colonial Williamsburg. A couple of highlights-sit outside on the terrace at the golf club, The Golden Horseshoe Clubhouse for lunch, the menu and service are great, but the view is spectacular. If you have kids, ask the wait staff for some old bread to feed the ducks and fish in the nearby ponds. Take a walk on The Bassett Trail; it’s a fairly easy walking trail, which is behind Bassett Hall, a historic home. Sit outside on the Williamsburg Inn’s terrace and have a drink or coffee, it has a special atmosphere with great views. Go on one of the complimentary walking tours of the hotel or gardens. In addition the Inn and sister property, The Williamsburg Lodge offer numerous family summer activities that you can enjoy with the entire family. We hope to be back at Christmas time!

The Inn is a magnificent place in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. Our room was tastefully decorated and everything you would expect from a world class hotel. Everything is right at your doorstep. One of the two pools lets kids frolic while the quiet pool caters to adults. The golf courses are fabulous, the Regency Room is all about first class dining and the staff exudes southern hospitality. If you want to do the eighteenth century history tours, the Inn is only one block from the Duke of Gloucester Street. Our five days flew by even though the temperatures were near 100. After 40+ trips to this place, we definitely will return. The Williamsburg Inn draws us like a magnet. We are addicted!

We reserved a room at the Williamsburg Inn through the rep at the Visitors Center at about 3:30 p.m.. After she quoted the price, we asked about AAA discount. She informed us that, after 3 p.m., the room was discounted 50%. The main building was filled but she said there was a room available at Providence Hall, on the grounds. We were a bit skeptical. However, Williamsburg Inn is owned by Colonial Williamsburg, and I don't think you could find a more impressive place to stay in Colonial Williamsburg. Our very nice building was not far from the main building that houses the restaurants (good food but a tad pricey). There is a complimentary coffee service in the morning. The Inn is located very close to historical buildings and shops and provides a shuttle to the outlying parts of Colonial Williamsburg, if guests are unable to walk.
Our room was huge, accommodating a king-size bed, large flat-screen TV, desk, sofa, coffee table, wing chair, dining table and two chairs. The bathroom had a dressing area and there was a second vanity/sink outside the bathroom. And...it was clean, clean, clean. We're looking forward to another visit!

This was our second time at the Williamsburg Inn and we had another fantastic stay. We especially like the ability to park our car, at no cost, on the premises and come and go without having to flag a valet. We also liked receiving the handprinted daily itineraries of what was happening in Colonial Williamsburg (on campus). Our room was a slice of Heaven, with a calming decor, comfortable sofa and chair; extra touches: live plant in the sitting area, fresh rose in the bathroom; the room overlooked a terrace and the golf course; the bathrrom was modern, huge, and gorgeous:equipped with a separate toilet room; main BR had a soaking tub and separate shower room. The vanity part of the bathroom had two sinks and a long counter; it was equipped with several drawers, a rarity in any hotel.
The staff, from the doorman to the chambermaids, was gracious and friendly, and went out of its way to ask us if we needed anything to make our stay more comfortable. We were impressed that services occurred without our having to ask, which makes the hotel a stand out. We arrived back from a swimming outing and used up the towels after showering, and upon returning after after a ghost tour and family gathering later that night, noticed, all of our used towels had been replaced with fresh ones.
The bedding was spotless and luxurious, the mattress and pillow menu were superior, and the turn down service rivaled the Four Seasons'.
The bar is beautifully decorated, welcoming, and relaxing. We stopped in mid-afternoon, and just wanted coffee, and were served as if we had ordered a bottle of fine wine.

A couple of cons: We found the Regency's breakfast fare to be just okay. The buffet offerings were nothing special and lukewarm. I ordered the eggs benedict with potatoes the second morning and both were mediocre. Our server the first morning pushed the buffet, disappeared after the first pouring of coffee, and still wasn't with it after we flagged him down. The second morning we had a different waiter and impeccable service.
One hotel complaint: When we arrived to the hotel at 3PM , we had to wait an hour to get into our room. A 4PM check in? Surely with an 11 AM check out time, rooms can be ready for new guests at 3!
Despite the check in annoyance, we'll make the Williamnsburg Inn our go-to place the next time we visit Williamsburg.

We've stayed here many times over the years, and are always so delighted each time. Our most recent stay was in one of the suites overlooking the terrace -- very spacious room, comfortable bed, great bathroom -- and we would stay there again with our three children in a heartbeat. Housekeeping brought two rollaways that fit perfectly in the sitting room, and our youngest child slept on the sofa (which did not pull out into a bed as we thought it would). They were all perfectly comfortable, and my husband and I had a bedroom to ourselves.

The pools are lovely -- indoor lap pool, and the outdoor "quiet" pool and the ... NOT quiet pool =) have plenty of chairs and drinks and snacks. The service on the latter was lacking this weekend, almost as if they were short a staff member. The speed of the service (or lack thereof) was less disturbing to me than listening to the manager behind the counter repeatedly berating the one poor waiter who was doing his darnedest to keep up with demand. Not the gracious professionalism that is the hallmark of everyone else at The Inn.

We had dinner at the Inn two nights, and it was spotty at best. We were with a large conference, so maybe volume had something to do with it. The breakfast buffet at The Lodge was great, as was room service on the other morning. The eggs benedict with crab are not to be missed!

We are grateful to have this annual conference to attend and look forward to going back every year.
