“Great Location!”

The Lodge is perfectly situated for easy access to all of the action at Colonial Williamsburg. This is especially valuable if you have teens who want to go off on their own or grandparents who might tire from the walking. We book two queen suite rooms which were sufficient for three people in each room. You might be able to get a fourth, but it would be tight -- i think I would only recommend it if you were two adults and two children. We were given discounted passes to the park since we were Lodge guests and the concierge really helped us get organized once we arrived. There is not a pool on site, but you do get access to the spa pool, which is across the street. We ate breakfast at the buffet twice and had one casual dinner in the lounge area. The food was good and well priced.

Room Tip: There are some meeting rooms on the sleeping floors so if you are a person who likes to go to bed ea...

From the outside this Lodge looks perfect, lovely landscaping, etc. The first disappointment was in our first room, a queen bed room. The bedroom was cute, but the bathroom was tiny and looked like it had not been renovated since 1960. The tub was so chipped, and poorly patched, that I was afraid to step into it. Then the heating/air conditioning system malfunctioned and we had to get a building engineer to fix it. The coffee maker did not work until the fourth time I hit the buttons. But the final blow to that room was our discovery (after dinner), that the baseboard under the desk was not in place and there was nothing there to block access between the room and whatever was living inside the walls, e.g., bugs, vermin, etc. We insisted on another room, and they moved us to a king bed room, which was much better ... at least until we tried to get hot water in the morning. My poor husband (who was showering first), never did get more than luke warm water, and my water got hot only half way through the shower. We would have switched rooms again, but by this time, we just gave up.

We stayed in the main hotel due to it's proximity to the Conference Center and got a great package deal. The room was nicely furnished with refrigerator, small closet, Keurig coffee maker (bring you favorite flavors); bathroom was a bit small but, updated; good water pressure with plenty of towels in the bath tub/shower combo; bed was comfortable and it was QUIET!!! Our room was located on the 2nd floor and toward the back away from the elevator and stairs.
The pool area is beautiful and very scenic. We watched three Mallard ducks waddle over from the nearby golf lagoon play in the adult, "quiet" pool. A very well equipped gym and WIFI were complementary amenities during our stay with free parking nearby. Our package included breakfast each day, a $100 gift card and free entry into historic Williamsburg.
The spa was average. Staff was nice but, quality of the service was mediocre at best.

Having spent a great couple of days at the Lodge last December with my husband, I was eager to take my sister who was visiting from the UK in mid-April. Granted the service is still excellent, the attractive landscaping and peaceful courtyards are a bonus and the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg is unequalled if you cannot afford the Inn's exorbitant prices. BUT this time we were allocated a room in the building furthest from the Lobby across the street from the Golf Clubhouse. The room was spacious in spite of two Queen beds but the furnishings were ordinary. The bathroom was old and tired. We never had hot water. The wash basin, toilet and bath tub drained extremely slowly. Neither the patio door nor the screen door onto our balcony
would lock. We had been promised a room with a view of the golf course, but looked out into a tree and an uninteresting courtyard. We looked forward to ordering breakfast off the menu in the dining room only to find guests being shunted into a generic ballroom set up as a temporary restaurant. The buffet was the only option. My sister's bacon, eggs and sausage were all cold, my made to order omelet was warm, but greasy. There was no toast, no bagels, only sweet rolls which we do not eat for health reasons. The coffee was cold. It was all very disappointing.
The service was mediocre at best.

Room Tip: Avoid the conference center rooms. The buildings acoss the front courtyard are nicer, and much close...

I stayed here for one night with my fiance and thought the value of the room was no where near what I paid. We booked a standard room with queen bed and were put in the South Hall. The thing they got right was the "lodge" feel - the furnishings in the room were spot on and I think they did a very good job with it. The proximity of the Lodge to the colonial section is also great - it's just a short five minute walk.

However, the positives stop there for my experience. The bathroom was cramped and there was a disconnect in furnishings since it abandoned the lodge theme entirely. The drainage did not work and I got to stand in dirty water during my shower. It also meant that there were "leftovers" from the last guests and housekeeping did not clean the tub. The towels had hairs on them and the floor was dirty. I will also warn folks that the walls in our room were paper thin - we had one of those optional adjoining rooms and we could hear EVERYTHING our neighbors said. It was really awkward and we tried to talk as quietly as possible during our stay.

Overall, I was disappointed after staying in a clean, cozy B&B for the two days prior for the same price. Especially when I went to the vending machine for a soda and it was $2.75!!! Not even the theme parks in the northeast are that expensive!

This hotel is one of the loviest places in every way. The setting and location is great, it's a short walk to the colonial area. The rooms are decorated beautifully, the beds are comfortable, the staff friendly and everything was spotless. One of the nicest things is the quiet and peaceful evenings, no loud partying or doors slamming all night (like the Hospitality House on the other side of town). We can't wait to go back.

I selected the Williamsburg Lodge because of its proximity to historic Williamsburg. Friends of ours stayed a little further away in a chain hotel and paid less but weren't able to just walk to their hotel and ended up parking at our hotel and walking with us.

We loved the lobby of the hotel. Very inviting. Our room was very comfortable as well. I didn't realize when we booked our room however that we were in a different building than the lobby and had to walk through the parking lot to get to our room.

The only drawbacks to our stay were that cell phone reception was non-existent when in the hotel. I spent $5 just to call our friend's cell to tell them where to meet us. Once we got out of the vicinity of the hotel, reception came back. The other drawback was that the pool was not at our hotel but across the street at the Williamsburg Inn. The indoor pool at the Inn wasn't very kid friendly and we really didn't want to walk across the street in our bathing suits to swim in their outdoor pool.

We hung out in the lounge one night and enjoyed live music while the kids watched the NCAA Basketball tournament on the TV. It was very relaxing to sit and hang out there.

We had breakfast as part of our room. The breakfast buffet was delicious and so were the items off the menu. Definitely worth adding to your room rate.

If we visit Williamsburg again, I would plan on staying there again.
