This was our first weekend getaway of the year & decided to stay at the resort based on the images & reviews. We highly recommend this resort. The property is beautiful. Our room faced the James River with a furnished deck. The room is nicely appointed, very warm, & comfortable. The staff amazing. Everyone is extremely friendly & courteous regardless of where u encounter them. The breakfast was delicious at the main lodge & you must try dinner at The Landing. The lobster was sweet, tender, & fantastic, the oysters were sweet. The view was serene & relaxing. Definitely a wonderful weekend getaway. We will be back. Worth the price for the "Bread & Breakfast" package.

Kingsmill is top notch in every way. We spent 5 nights in a one bedroom condo with a fireplace. The furnishings are very high quality, especially the sleeper sofa. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.
The grounds are gorgeous and the food is great.
The fireplace was going in minutes with a phone call.
Families with young children were plentiful. And activities can be easily found.
The fitness center is excellent and features every item possible, along with basketball and racquetball courts.
We are looking forward to our return.

Room Tip: If possible, Richmond's Ordinary is a lovely area to stay. Very convenient and a beautiful view...

I am not sure how I came about finding the Kings Mill site but I am glad I did. I was planning a surprise getaway for the weekend for my wife and I's first anniversary. We like to keep things simple and elegant and close by. The resort was only a 2 hour drive from our home and had good ratings so I decided to give it a try.

From the moment we arrived the staff was very friendly and informative. We checked in and was provided a map of the resort, a shuttle schedule for bush gardens and the winery, as well as activities going on at the resort. They also provided a box with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for the smores roast they were having that night followed by a walking ghost tour. (It was raining pretty hard so we didn't do either) The room was spacious and had a great view of the James River, within walking distance to the main lobby, pools, and fitness centers. Everyone we interacted with that worked there were so pleasant and eager to help or inform us of things going on.

I highly recommend Kings Mill Resort to anyone traveling for any reason!

They have small and large conference rooms for corporate off-site meetings, Large multi-room houses for families on vacation, and beautiful suites for a couples get-a-way.

No matter the reason, or season, I recommend Kings Mill!

Thank you all for the amazing experience!

Beautiful room, breakfast and dinners were delicious. Do not miss the Corn and Crab Chowder! The best ever. Shuttle service to the park and back was handy and shuttle gets you around the resort easily with door pick- up in 1-3 minutes.

Room Tip: Stayed in an upper level double room with water views in December for a week-end at Christmas Town...

First time visit for Christmas Town package at Busch Gardens.
We did not go for spa/golf/swimming so if that is your focus I cannot comment on those amenities.
The good:
The river and water views are lovely. Our room had a balcony with a water view and was a delight to sit on and relax. The shuttle service was great and reliable and they even delivered us to our door at the end of the night. The breakfast was very good. There were the usual hot items/a waffle pancake chef/
a sweet station with all kinds of pastry/cereal/bagel/toast station. If you can't find something to eat there something is wrong with you. The view of the river for breakfast was also a treat
The opportunities for improvement:.
Facilities are far from main building. The doors in lodging right next to eachother so every time our neighbor left or came home it sounded like they were coming into our room. We also were awakened by our top floor neighbor when the bathroom was used. The walls are very thin. The room was really average and that was a bit disappointing. The air conditioning was extremely loud (yes we needed a/c in december it was 75 degrees and humid) We did not get a good night sleep because of all of the noise. The ice machines had been "winterized" so you could not help yourself to ice but there was a note to call for delivery. We ended up stopping at 7-11 for ice.
I would use this facility again because of it's proximity to Colonial Williamsburg/Busch Gardens etc. The shuttle service saves a lot of headache and parking fees.I am rating it a 4 because the good outweighs the disappointments.

First time visit for an on-site convention - very nice facilities and tremendous staff - really try to make your stay perfect. I was concerned that the accommodations were not in the same building as the meeting but the resort shuttle drivers were prompt and courteous. Williamsburg and Busch Gardens very close but once on the grounds a guest is not aware of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas.

Room Tip: Rooms are some distance from the resort center, restaurants and spa. Using the shuttle service is n...

We stayed at this hotel for christmas town at Bush Gardens. The rooms are like staying in a condo. You don't get on an elevator to go to your room. they have extensive grounds so you drive to your condo. we stayed in a 2 bedroom suite top floor which was perfect. It had a fully stocked kitchen which was great for the 4 kids. We saved a little on food. Shuttle service runs from 2:30 until the park closes. they did give us a ride over to the park sooner because of the santa feast lunch. Comfortable bed. I had a great nights sleep. The pull out bed was comfortable for the kids. The kids loved the pool and they have a nice ladies locker room to change. I would return to this hotel. it will be nice in the summer with the marina and biking.
