“Pretty Resort, Lots to do”
Reviewed July 12, 2008

We had an enjoyable 3 day stay at Kingsmill, beautiful grounds. We stayed in a one bedroom suite next to the Tennis Club. Our building was a bit weathered on the outside compared to others on the property. The inside of our suite was quite nice. It appeared to be recently renovated as there wasn't much wear & tear to be found. It was very clean. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job. The bed & linens were high quality. We also had a kitchen that was functional as well as super clean. I enjoyed having the kitchen as we ate all of our breakfasts in the room. The bathroom was a good size and the water pressure in the large shower was the most powerful I've ever experienced. You'll either love it or hate it. The Staff was very accommodating. We were asked several times if we needed help with our luggage. The suite had a washer/dryer along with dishes/pots/pans. It came nicely equipped with everything you could need. We were a short walk from the pools, tennis & golf courses. We didn't mind the walk at all. They have an indoor & outdoor pool which were nice. The outdoor pool has lots of umbrellas and food service. The kids loved the large gameroom. We didn't use the workout facilities but it was quite impressive - lots of equipment & classes. I did check out the Spa which appeared nice but I passed. I don't mind paying for good spa services but these were quite pricey. We were out most dinner times so found local restaurants - Italian restaurant, Maurizos near the resort was very good and The Cheese Shop in Historic Williamsburg - great sandwiches. We didn't take the Shuttles to Busch Gardens. Taking the shuttle will save you a $10 parking chg at Busch Gardens. My husband & son used the Par 3 course and driving range and enjoyed them. They also had golf camps in progress which my son would have liked to attend. My husband also golfed on The River Course. Kingsmill did mess up his reservation/charges however they did correct the problem to his satisfaction. He enjoyed the Course. Bring your tennis gear, wish we did. They also offer bike and boat rentals. This is a wonderful Resort for relaxing and having fun. I didn't think 3 days was enough to take advantage of everything they had to offer. If you like views, you might want to request a suite with a river view.

we stay at kingsmill over the 4th of july.
The resort is really nice overall.

Room

we had a suite with a king bed and it was really nice. The linen of the bed was so awesome, I couln't wait to go to take a nap.
The bathroom was also nice with pretty tile and a big shower with double head.

Staff

Overall the staff was really helpfull and very courteous.
Our original room was a little far so we asked to change it was no problem.

Food

We were very disappointed by the Bray. When i called I asked about the menu, it looked awesome. I looked at it online and was again very please, then checked it again when i was at the resort the nite before our reservation of our 5th anniversary. Everything looked perfect.
BIG disappointment!!!
The menu was changed that nite to a casual menu in order to attract family business, which i understand completely. I just wish somebody would have informed me of it.
Anyway i order the bisque which was good, then the mussels way overcooked, then i decided for the crabcake since it is their specialty. I though they could mess it up, it was the worst i ever had!!! they were so dry and tasteless. I had to send it back!
I got the steak instead it was ok...
we decided to go to Eagles for dessert! it was again just fine.
Breakfast at Eagles was good.
We order carry out every day from the casual pizza place, it seems to be the best option.

Overall don't expect great cuisine at the resort. If you are a diner go to the Fat Canary instead.

Resort

It is a beautiful resort with the marina, a tiny beach, kind of dirty, go to Yorktowne for a nicer beach, 20 mn drive well worth it.
The golf course look beautiful, we don't play, oups!

I would probably return to the resort.

I found my stay quite enjoyable. We held a family reunion over the 4th of July. All of the amenties through the hotel were very well done. The staff was courteous and efficient. The grounds were well kept and the shuttle was always avaliable within minutes. The location was excellent. I would recomment the rooms with the river view over the golf course view. All in all, even though the resort is a bit pricey it was a good experience and an enjoyable and relaxing weekend!

We stayed at Kingsmill in June and had a great vacation. The setting is beautiful from golf courses, woods and the river to beautifully maintained flowers, trees, etc. Our one bedroom suite was very nice and clean. The housekeeping staff (Janiel) went out of her way to make us feel at home. We really enjoyed the package we got with Busch Gardens and Water Country tickets. The shuttle is great - anytime we called they were there within 3-4 minutes and took us anywhere we needed to go. The drivers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The only issue I have was with the waitresses at the Marina and Regatta. They were not very friendly compared to everyone else in the resort. Breakfast was included in our package and was very good. The outdoor and indoor pool are both very nice and the locker rooms are great. The spa was very nice but a bit pricey. Overall this was one of our favorite vacations. We look foward to visiting again.

The property, pools, golf courses, etc. were nice. The suite was a good size (full kitchen, nice large eating area, good view of the river). However, the carpets were dirty with large spots. The service of the overall resort, concierge, and restaurant staff was awful. The concierge was not knowlegeable about the area. At one point they mentioned to us to look for an item in the phone book! I was shocked to say the least. A prominent new shopping area they had never heard of and they never returned your call when stated that they would by a certain time. The hotel service was just as poor. No assistance with luggage, tried to charge us $20 more for a room even though we clearly had a confirmation stating the lower rate. All times we ate at all the various restaurants, the service was bizarre. Extremely long waits between ordering and receiving the food, receiving the wrong food and not receiving food at all.

To sum it up I would recommend staying at the hotel for a place to park your stuff at. It is not 4 stars and it's a bit of a push for 3 stars when you consider the money.

Our family of 4 just returned from our stay at the Kingsmill Resort. My boys are 12 & 14, and they enjoyed the pools as well as the game room. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I do agree with some of the other reviews that it was a bit inconvenient because the rooms are away from the other things on the property, so you do have to drive around to get to the pools, etc. However, it was nice to be able to park directly in front of your unit, and the free shuttles to Busch Gardens and Water Country were great. We ate at Reggatta's one night and really enjoyed it. The food was very good and it was a nice casual atmosphere perfect for families. Daily breakfast was included with our package and it was wonderful each morning. The buffet offered just about anything you wanted, including made to order omlets. I found the staff to be very accomodating and they even allowed us to use the shuttle and leave our car parked on the property the day we were leaving so we could head over to Busch Gardens for a few hours. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and I would stay at this resort in the future.

We booked the family packaage at Kingsmill - First we had a regular double guest room. We checked in and we were very disappointed. The carpet was dirty, no shower curtain int the bathroom, a dead bug by the phone.etc. We called the front desk and told them this was not at all what we expected and were very upset. A very helpful manager was apologetic and moved us. We were moved to a beautiful one bedroom suite and the difference was amazing. What a great place, we hated to leave. Breakfast every morning was wonderful, the pool - game room, etc was really nice. The grounds are incredible and very well taken care of. We went out in a paddle boat and saw a family of dear on the banks of the lake, turtles, fish, birds. The golf was great, shuttles to Busch Gardens, Water Country, I can't say enough!! What a great place to stay with a family.
