“Very pleasant stay at Hampton Inns”
Reviewed February 19, 2008

Overall, we had a good experience at the Hampton Inns Richmond Road. As other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfasts are a wonderful benefit. While not the most glamorous, for a free breakfast, there are a lot of hot and cold options. The staff was constantly refilling the food to ensure that there was enough and that the items were fresh. Our room was a little cramped, but clean and the king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms could use some work- ours had a moldy smell and the lighting is not particularly good. Our only real complaint was that our room was right next to housekeeping. The staff was very polite, but they get moving early and make a fair amount of noise. We were awoken several times before 8 AM by their conversations. All in all, the Hampton Inn is a nice place to stay and worth the price.

  • Liked — breakfast!
  • Disliked — noise from housekeeping (across the hall from our room)

We spent 3 nights here. The hotel was clean and the staff was very pleasant. But we were disappointed with the room size, design and appointments. There was only one reading chair, a sub-sized closet and furnishings that made the room feel crowded. However the breakfast was better than many we've been to and the price was reasonable for the area.

Our stay here was the first at a Hapton Inn, but it will not be the last. We had a friendly welcome and loved the king bed room. Everything was working as it should and the room was nice and clean. We enjoyed the free breakfast, even if the scrambeled eggs were dry as dust according to my husband. I enjoyed a nice fruit salad and the choice of serveral different muffins. We both loved the fact that there were two choices of coffee, the "robust" one actually tasted like coffee at home in Europe, not weak like most coffee in the USA. The 24 hours serve yourself bar of hot drinks was enjoyed. We didn't use the pool area, since it was a bit on the short side for doing laps. For kids it would be good.

My family was in town to tour the historic sites. We arrived the night before our scheduled arrival and needed a room for the night. The hotel had no standard rooms available but due to our past experience with Hampton Inns we wanted to stay there if possible.

We decided to book a suite with two beds. The suite included a living room area with television and sleeper sofa, kitchen with a stove, oven, refrigerator and dishwasher. The living room and kitchen areas are separated from the bedroom/bathroom area which also has a TV. The beds were very comfortable, the room nicely decorated and the included deluxe continental breakfast was very good.

The location is relatively close to Colonial Williamsburg and many restaurant choices are available within a reasonable walking or short driving distance.

When we return we will plan to stay in one of the suites on property. I certainly would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing a nice place to stay when in Williamsburg.

  • Liked — Comfortable room and included deluxe continental breakfast.
  • Disliked — Wireless internet had poor signal in section of hotel we stayed and was slow to use.

We did a short road trip to Florida from NYC and this was our first stop as we wanted to see Colonial Williamsburg. We loved this hotel. It was very clean and well maintained. The staff was super friendly and our room was excellent - no complains.
Will definitelly stay here again whenever in this area.

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites for five nights as we explored the Historical attractions that Williamsburg is known for. We arrived a little early then our check time but the friendly staff made sure we were able to get into our after only a short wait. We had a spacious two room suite with two double beds and a kitchenette that was very clean, the AC in both rooms worked great and wasn't too loud. The complimentary breakfast was very good (I love the Krispy Kreme donuts) and the breakfast area wasn't too crowded if you got there early. The hotel is located on Richmond Rd which is a very busy road during the day and we primarily stayed on our side of the road when walking to supper, etc. They're plenty of places to eat with in easy walking distance (Ruby Tuesday is next door) Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Applebee's, Chile's and Taco Bell to name a few (and those were just on our side of the road). There is a business center with a computer and printer that guests can use which is convenient. Don't forget to visit the Williamsburg General Store and the hugh Yankee Candle both with in a short walk from the hotel. Another excellent stay provided to us by Hampton Inn & Suites.

The room was perfect, spacious and quiet, business center available freely for guests, helpful people at the desk.
Breakfast was OK but the room a bit crowded.
I would go there if ever back in Wmsburg (which is not too likely).
