“Find somewhere else!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

I made reservations at this hotel because of the indoor pool and breakfast. I then called the hotel directly to ensure the pool was open and operational because that is our main focus. I was ensured the pool was open. We checked in and the hotel clerk was unfriendly and dressed like she was going clubbing...very unprofessional. We got to our room to find the room looked NOTHING like the photos provided on this site ( no flat screen and did NOT sleep 5 as advertised). Both mattresses had support issues (with sides being broken down from excessive sitting on the sides). The hair dryer did not work either. We then dressed to go to the pool. When we got down there, the water was FREEZING and the hot tub was closed. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!! When I checked out, I reported the problems with the room. When I mentioned the pool issue, the woman informed me it had gone out several days ago...I told her "in the future, advise your guests of this because we went through the trouble of dressing and going all the way down there for nothing". She apologized and I left. DON'T STAY HERE!! OHHH...and, in the breakfast room, there are artificial plants on the walls...right above the waffle machine..it is CAKED with dust...just waiting to fall off into your food!!

We travel with Laquinta all the time. The location is perfect, breakfast area is good. The problem is the room smells musty and the air ducts by the fan are filthy. My nose stuffed up and had an itchy throat. The room was vacuumed and tidy. This needs to be addressed.

stayed here November 2012 with family of 5...
Pros>
-good breakfast with boiled eggs and biscuits and gravy, and TWO waffle makers!
-comfortable beds and clean rooms
-cheap
-decent gym with cable machines and treadmills
-neat shuffleboard area, foosball table and putting green, me and kids had great time playing there!
-close to downtown historic Williamsburg
-good Italian restaurant across street

Cons>
-not so friendly staff
-pool heating pump was broken, so pool was very cold
-no hot tub
-tried opening room window and it came out! had to put it back carefully, pretty beat up property

all in all, not a bad hotel, just old... if you are looking for a place to just stay with free breakfast and a comfy bed, this will work.

Hopefully they fix the pool.

At the past we used to sleep in super 8 in mid. Williamsburg. Owner changed, and its more like Indian guesthouse. La Quinta cost a little more but worth much more.
Rooms ' fine & dandy ' good, clean beds, large rooms with everything, internal large worm pool, good breakfast very good service and maintenance.
At the hotel we met a class of childrens with their teachers in traditional custוmes they were magnificent, polite and quiet. Something to be proud of.

Room Tip: WE got an internal room, you can choose an outside facing room

You can't go wrong
. Pet friendly cleanliness. Free breakfast great staff. I hope they get the pool fixed, but not a deal breaker so much to do in Williamsburg you won't have time. Older hotel the reveiws are accurate. I can't wait to stay here again. Honest people. They also have a workout area. I would debate within walking distance I mean you can but we thought it was spittle closed but within minutes of everything. We will definately stay here again. A welcomg place. Great experience!:)

We had the "suite" which consists of two hotel rooms, side by side with a connecting door. On one side was the bedroom area with a king size bed, desk, dresser and lounge chair/ottoman, on the other side is the living room area which sports a sofa, chair, table and two chairs, coffee table and a large TV stand which houses a microwave and fridge. There was plenty of room to stretch out and the suite included two fully equipped bathrooms, two televisions (one flat screen on the bedroom side, one CRT on the living room side.) Everything presented well when the lights were dim, but turn up the lights and you could see signs of wear and tear and the lack of attention to detail; i.e. unfilled screw holes in the wall where the old headboard used to be, water stains on the ceiling, sloppy paint job on the doors, cracked glass in one of the windows etc. Our room backed up to the indoor heated pool, which might have been lovely if the heater was working (there was a sign on the pool gate "sorry, our heater is broken.") Also, if you prefer peace and quiet, I would suggest NOT having a room which backs up to the pool area. The gigantic gymnasium-sized structure that houses the pool also serves to amplify every sound into a reverberating echo from which there is no escape if you are in your room. On our first night there were some screaming kids using the pool until 9:00 pm and it was like trying to relax in a daycare center, what with the echo effect going on. Also of note, the room doors are heavy and SLAM shut, so you hear it EVERY time somebody comes and goes up or down the hall.

The exterior of the building could best be characterized as "brick institutional," with all the creepy charm of a vacation asylum. Plus, it looks like the hotel has some homesteaders living in the rooms towards the back. We saw window sills decorated like there were permanent residents living there.....funky. Finally, I didn't feel all too comfortable about the dives on either side of us. On the one side there's an old strip motel converted into apartments with the rear windows either boarded up or painted over and there are people living in it, which creeped us out a little. On the other side is an older two story motel which featured a huge pile of old mattresses out back, old shopping carts out by the dumpster and another low-rent apartment style building toward the very back, complete with tenants, litter and old muffler-less cars with rent-a-wheels.

There is a complimentary breakfast which didn't look bad, but I lost my appetite when I saw the attendant sneeze while he was putting out the boiled eggs. The staff was courteous and well mannered, but I got the feeling no one was looking to go out of their way for you. Beds were very comfortable and we did sleep very well between door slams. The hotel is pet friendly and we did bring our dogs (2) at no extra charge, but all things considered, I would look around for another pet-friendly hotel in the area before I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay away from "pool-side" rooms if you prefer peace and quiet.
