“Tons of Space and Nice Grounds”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. We have stayed at other Marriott Vacation properties in HI and SC and this one was no different....very spacious, clean, up to date and friendly staff. We had a 2 bedroom unit on the ground floor and it was perfect for our family of 4....the extra space we needed. My only issues were that both alarm clocks had been set prior to our arrival and they woke us at 6AM and the hair dryer in one master bath got such a hot handle I almost burned myself. I did inform Marriott and I am sure they will take care of it. We are Disney Vacation Club Owners and our stays at Marriott make often make us question if we should have purchased with them as well. One day maybe :)

We joined friends for a week at the Marriott Manor Club and definitely enjoyed our stay. As is usual for Marriott timeshares, the facility was clean and beautiful. We stayed in the last building to the far right of the registration building (Villa 1836)which backed up to the forest so it was very quiet. Staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful and the concierge was wonderful in answering our questions and helping with reservations. Our only disappointment was the furniture in the living room/dining room - the chair seats were very uncomfortable. It appeared that the seats had been broken by very heavy people sitting in them. We had to use pillows off the couch to raise the seats up enough to be comfortable. Beds were very comfortable though. One other caution: the air conditioning in the bedrooms works VERY well - perhaps a bit too well. The controls are in the living room so 70 in the living room tended to be 65 in the bedrooms. Luckily the comforters on the bed kept us cozy. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor that overlooks the forest - very quiet!

This is the third Marriot timeshare we have stayed at, once again we were pleased with the accommodations. We had a two bedroom unit in the "Sequel" portion of the complex. It is just across a small street from the primary buildings (check-in, indoor pool, etc.). Because the second bedroom could be a lock off unit, it was bigger than some we have come across. It had its own small fridge, coffee pot and small counter space. The kitchen in the primary unit had modern appliances and the appropriate cooking utensils. Overall a good setup for two couples who are vacationing together. For groceries there is a Food Lion less than 10 minutes away. Walmart is 15-20 minutes. Colonial Williamsburg is 20 minutes. Busch Gardens is 25-30 minutes.

The Manor Club was quiet, beautiful, clean, and restful. The property seemed secluded from the outside world, but everything was a short drive away. The front desk staff were helpful and knowledgeable. There were a lot of activities for the residents. There were movies, golf, games (horseshoes, Wii bowling, billiards, etc.), and historical characters telling us about historical people and events, and etc. Our son loved the TV on the wall in the living room. He was able to play his video games when we were in the room. My husband loved relaxing on the screened patio. The only things that we had trouble with were the TV (there satellite was shaky during our whole trip so the it didn't work well) and the AC didn't keep the room cool on the warmer days, especially when the bedroom door was closed. Overall, my family loved the accommodations and we'll return.

We did an exchange again at this lovely resort. We were here about six years ago and loved it. We exchanged again and it was even better than we remembered. The Jamestown addition is just lovely and we had a beautiful view of the pool area from our third level suite. The grounds are immaculate and so was our room. Our 10 year old granddaughter was with us and enjoyed having her own spacious room. The movie night was an enjoyable addition!

Room Tip: Jamestown on the 3rd floor for a lovely view of the pool area.

Joined friends here for a week using their vacation club week. Wow! Kitchen had minimal essentials but worked fine for the 4 of us, although a corkscrew would have been welcome, luckily we had one. Dining table was a good size with a glass top - easy to clean. Living room had nice size TV as well as a DVD player which we used several times to play some of the historical DVDs purchased at Jamestown & Colonial Williamsburg. For March it was still very chilly so we took advantage and used the fireplace which had a timer to turn it off after 30 minutes.

Off each side of the living room was a short hall with a bedroom on one side and bath on the other. Door to each side closed off the rest of the apartment, making for very private areas. Bedroom had 2 small but very sufficient closets, a TV, dresser and radio/alarm clock. One side had the washer/dryer in it and a normal bathroom nicely appointed while the other side was considered the "master" bedroom with a very elegant bathroom - separate shower and tub. Beds were super comfortable - slept great every night.

Ford's Colony provides some type of entertainment every day/evening. Wine & cheese tasting, Name that Tune, movie night with complimentary popcorn, etc. The game room was quite active - air hockey & other games being enjoyed. Some planned daytime activities as well but we were never there. Also haunted walk tours some evenings. We didn't take advantage of the pools but saw plenty of people who braved the chilly walk back to their units who had enjoyed time in the heated pool.

The location is convenient, grounds are very well kept, with wildlife taking advantage of the bird feeders; and there is a small convenience store where you can also rent a DVD. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Our unit was 243, in the building right next to the main lobby. I have no hesitation in recommending Fords Colony to anyone.

Booked a villa last minute as a halfway point to my next stop. I had no idea that it was a resort and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Room was amazing, full kitchen, fireplace, and comfy bed. The grounds are well manicured and added to the feel of the place. Worth every penny! I plan on coming back for a longer stay!
