Owner description: Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

If you like American history - and you're in Williamsburg and do not visit - you've done yourself a HUGE disservice!
Beautiful area full of historic relevance and full of artifacts!

The story of Jamestown was brought to life. I have a much better understanding of history now. This is a must see for children.

After a disappointing trip to Williamsburg it was a relief to be here. Real history you could see and touch. Many archeological digs in progress. We saw a full size intact horse they were working on, still in the ground and many more graves they had discovered. The workers were so kind and patient and answered everyones questions. The rangers there gave very fun and informative tours. A very beautiful place. Sad to know of so much tragedy that befell our ancestors. There preservation and knowledge of the history there will always stay with me. Only 12 miles from Williamsburg on the beautiful colonial parkway. Nice gift shop. Bring snacks and drinks. A must see!

We spent around 5 hours there. A lot to see and to enjoy. Like the museum and the films they show before each area.

Being from England, was very interested to see where it all began! Guide was very informative and the whole experience was really enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
