Passing thru Va as a halfway stop on the way North - deliberately chose Winchester just so we could celebrate our 22nd Anniversary at La Table Provençale. My husband had never been but understood instantly why I was so excited to share this place with him. It was a quiet night with the opportunity for a leisurely romantic culinary adventure. The menu is well thought out & beautifully executed. An absolute rare treat Foie Gras w/Cherry Griottines as delicious as we've ever had ANYWHERE including Paris France - my husband had a Hen egg that was a revelation, I then had Lobster Thermidor w/ parsnips ( adore ) main of Baramundi w/King Trumpet sorrel capped off by a Creme Brûlée that was a fitting end to a memorable outstanding meal. Thoughtful attentive service & a personal visit by chef Joseph Watters. Bravo!! They even called the afternoon of our visit to confirm if we had any food allergies. Do yourself a favor and take a drive into the lovely countryside to visit La Table. Closer than France. An experience we found on par with Little Washington & far less pricy! The ONLY reason we didn't stay at the B&B ( and we would have loved to) was lack of a pet friendly accommodation. Chef did make us a little Terres Major take home for our furson. A bonifide 5 star rating.
