The town of Waterford is a treasure of a tiny town, with an annual fair the first weekend in October. I'm actually surprised I can't find it reviewed here. There are home tours, crafts and craft exhibits, food, and music. The town has an interesting history as well. It's a three day fair that is low-keyed, fun for all (kids too), and classy. We have been several times over the years, and it has always been a pleasure. The music is varied, but don't come looking for a rock band. Waterford is about an hour from DC, and you definitely need a car to get here. The fair is wonderfully organized. It's not cheap ($20 a person), but the price includes parking and the house tours. Expect a lot of walking, and it may not be suitable for some. But strollers are useful and will work if you need them. You are walking down city streets and through some fields. For the record, I have no affiliation with the town or the tour. Just a satisfied customer!
