We just spent a wonderful weekend in the Washington area, with one exception. I made the mistake of asking Kevin at the Gay Street Inn if he could serve us coffee. Admittedly, we were not guests at the inn. However, he was unnecessarily offensive - prissy, insulting, and nasty. We visit the area often and we always check out B&Bs before we book. It is difficult to believe someone in the hospitality business could be so foolish. As a consequence, we will never stay at the Gay Street Inn. There are many places in the area that are clean, well managed, and run by wonderful innkeepers.

"Louis" admits in his email that he was not a guest at our B&B. What Louis fails to mention is that he walked into our house unannounced at around 7:00 a.m. in the morning, before any of our actual guests were even awake, and tried to get us to serve him breakfast. All apart from the fact that we don't serve hot breakfast until 8:30, it would violate our license to serve food or beverage to a non-guest. We accordingly asked Louis to leave. He then raised his voice to us and we had to insist that he leave immediately (which is apparently why he finds us "nasty"). Our goal was and is to protect the privacy and enjoyment of people who actually are our guests. While we have never had an intruder like Louis before, and almost no one in our small town ever locks their doors, we now do so, to prevent people like him from ever intruding on our guests again.

Second time we have stayed. This is a very professionally run b&b, and the innkeeper/owners are incredibly hospitable. Rooms are very nice. Tasty breakfast. Good advice on touring in the area. Overall an excellent place to stay.

This place was wonderful and Jay and Kevin were fabulous hosts. An absolutely delicious breakfast, port and chocolates the night before, a lovely room with comfortable bed and pillows, and a great little porch out front. The perfect place to spend a relaxing weekend. We will definitely return.

We lucked out on our choice of the Gay Street Inn! From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt very special. The owners greeted us and immediately it felt like home. They provided excellent recommendations on wineries and shopping and they prepared an impeccable breakfast that was too gorgeous to eat! Our nightcap of wonderful Port was appreciated. The rooms were very comfortable and included an ample supply of magazines to browse. We'll definitely be back!

This was my first time staying in Little Washington, VA and I was thrilled with my choice of B&B. The innkeepers were very pleasant and made us feel pampered. The inn itself was close to the center of town without being right on the main street and was very tastefully decorated and well cared for. There was homemade biscotti and wine in the evening for the guests and a great breakfast in the morning (everything was homemade). The innkeepers also offered great tips about daytime activities in the area. I will definitely stay at the Gay Street Inn again!
