OK, I don't want to be the wet blanket on the review site, but we were a bit less overcome by this restaurant than others. The food was really wonderful -- beautifully cooked and gorgeously presented -- but the prices were way out of line. We have traveled the world and eaten at some of the best restaurants, and while the Inn is certainly an excellent restaurant, meals are not worth the price of air tickets to NYC for the weekend. It almost feels as though prices ($600 - $700 for two; a *very* moderate wine included) are meant to shock customers into believing they will never eat this well again. Reviews we read included language such as "a life-changing experience," "food so good it will make you cry," etc. Yes, the food was delicious, but the only change to our lives was our empty checkbooks at the end of the meal. The decor is over the top -- definitely an acquired taste. We were happy to have experienced this once, if only to see what the hype was about, but we will not return.

Friends had celebrated their 50th anniversary at the IALW last year and invited us to join with them this year. Considering we live a thousand miles from Washington, Va., we wondered if the meal would be worth the travel. In a word -- YES. Our dinner was the Gastronauts menu at the kitchen table. Each bite was a culinary adventure. The presentations were gorgeous -- the flavors outstanding in every way. Our server (Scott) was a true professional as well as a joyful addition to the entire experience. One of the top 5 meals of our lives -- worth the travel and worth the money. If you really call yourself a foodie -- this is an experience not to miss.

The food is inventive and superb. the service is impeccable to every last detail. For example, as you leave the restaurant, you'll find the valet waiting with your car having said nothing to anyone about departing. My wife and i were married at the Inn the previous year and the staff warmly greeted us, pampered us at every opportunity-complimentary champagne, customized menu, outstanding table, frequent well wishes, took photos for us etc.

We visited the Inn for a special occasion with friends and we loved it from start to finish.
The hotel and restaurants are beautiful; the decor is something else with a cherry on top. Decadence, opulence, old school glamour and with a cow that serves your cheese.

The menu is extensive, the food is beautiful and if this was a little closer to where I live, it would be a firm favorite!
The 4 of us all chose different dishes from scallops, fois gras, duck, pork and beef, all were excellent and easily some of the best food we have ever eaten.
My starter of Lobster and Scallop was up in my top 5 dishes of all time, Thank you Patrick!
We were advised to ask for a Kitchen tour which Patrick the chef and proprietor happily obliged, nice to see a chef as enthusiastic about his food as he was about keeping his customers happy.
It was such a treat to have such excellent food in a small little town and be able to stumble back to our B&B down a quiet little road.
I can certainly see why some customers will fly in by helicopter for a night here, I would if I could!

My wife and I dined here on our 10th, 20th, and 30th wedding anniversaries and flew out from Colorado to DC to dine here again on our 35th. We travel frequently, dining in some of the finest restaurants in the world, and the Inn at Little Washington is among the best, with consistently outstanding food and perfect, personalized service. This trip was no exception and our waiter, Jess, took extremely good care of us. The single drawback is the prices. A weekend meal is fixed price at about $200 per person. With modest drink choices and a fair tip, the total for two people is in the neighborhood of $625 or more. That’s not quite as high as some other world class restaurants (e.g., the French Laundry in Napa, CA), but it does reduce the overall value. Our previous decisions to return have been no-brainers, but we’ll need to give it just a bit more thought as we approach our 40th. In light of the tradition, the great food, and the incomparable service, somehow I think we’ll be back (we’ll start saving up now).
