“I love this restaurant!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

I just ate my fourth dinner at The Inn at Little Washington and each meal is as memorable as my first 14 years ago. Every bite of food is an explosion of well matched ingredients that create theater on the table and on the palate. The food is creative and the experience is memorable for a lifetime. The Inn at Little Washington is a jewel in American Cuisine.

“Exceeded my expectations for quality and service”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

With all of the accolades that have been given to TILW, my expectations for my stay were very high. From the welcome cocktail through tea, dinner and breakfast, the kitchen lived up to its reputation. The tea menu was extensive, and the descriptions were helpful in making a choice. The tea savories and sweets were indeed bite size but delicious and the perfect amount for a pre-dinner interlude. We chose the Gastronaut menu with wine pairings and loved each course. The sommelier was a delight, providing excellent information about each wine and its characteristics. My favorite course was the Lobster Napoleon. The pre-dinner popcorn with truffle oil and shaved truffles has become the new standard (I may never order movie popcorn again!). The included continental breakfast included fresh local berries in a make your own parfait course. I ordered the Breakfast Trio with excellent corned beef hash with a quail egg, an oatmeal soufflé with maple syrup and rum-soaked currants, and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Incredible combination of excellent dishes. The eggs Benedict came with perfect Hollandaise sauce. Definitely an experience to savor and remember.

“Food overrated and overpriced”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The food had too much salt. From the bed with a crust full of salt to the scallops which were totally over salted. For the amount of money we paid ($250/person) this dinner was not worth it. I had heard a lot about this restaurant, finally decided to go and unfortunately the experience was not what we expected.

“Expensive, but exquisite”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Quiet dining, attentive service and - quite rare - challenging and different food that works. Dinner, drinks, tax, and tip probably will take your bill over $500, but a value meal for a special occasion. Especially note the quiet dinning areas where you can hear your dinner companion whisper.

“You will not regret eating here, the food is totally worth the cost!”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

This is a fabulous place to eat. Bucolic setting out in the countryside in a small hamlet between DC and Luray in the Shenandoah. It is a scenic drive from the city. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for when going to a world class restaurant. You can easily drop $200 a person for dinner, $250 each if you get wine pairings. The food is exquisite and the service is the best I have ever had. Wait people were friendly, but not overly so. Made you feel at home whether you were a millionaire or just regular people out for a special experience. The tiny "amusants" or fun for your tasetbuds preceded a wonderful meal that allows you to select 2 starters from the menu, an entre, and a desert. At first I was surprised (and somewhat dismayed) at the portion sizes, but each part of the meal packed so much flavor and goodness and the plates were so gorgeous (in a real not a phony arty way), that you get over it. And, let me tell you, you will thank the chef for being so knowing because the portion sizes are perfectly sized to allow you to enjoy ALL of the dinner, every course, without feeling at the end of the meal like you were a bloated whale. You are completely sated and very relaxed. The desert? Wow! Amazing. I did ice-cream sandwiches with butter pecan ice cream centers and they were devine so unlike anything I have every had. What is really nice is that when you are done and ready to leave, you get a little box of desert surprises for your trip home or upstairs so you can remember and dream about your experience when you leave. I did not do the wine pairing when I went, but can hardly wait to go back because I am sure it will be more than fabulous. I have eaten at many expensive restaurants in my day and most, when all is said and done, were not worth the money. This one is!! Once again, the service is impeccable and discrete. Their whole job is to make you comfortable and have the best experience possible.
