The atmosphere and staff are welcoming and inviting. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner by candlelight. The private underground wine cellar was stocked with numerous wines and "true" champagnes from around the world, just bring the bottle to the table with you and let the experience begin. Our waitress gave impeccable service with a smile. Our meals were delicious as well as sufficient portions, rivaling any 5 star restaurant, in a cozy small town setting. Although we loved the chocolate cake, the bread pudding was bland. Our waitress removed the fee from our check, just by noticing that we had not eaten more than a taste of the dessert. The prices were reasonable, and in line with that of the Homesteads meals, but for a much better value. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through the Warm Springs area.

My boyfriend and I went to the Waterwheel while staying at the Homestead. We had a great meal and the restaurant staff was very personable as it is run by its two owners in an old mill. The wine cellar in the basement is next to the wheel used in the mill and worth seeing. Their wine is reasonably priced and their owner John was very knowledgeable about the wine as well as the vineyard it came from. The Homestead (they don’t advertise it) provides transportation for its guest to and from the restaurant for a small fee.

The new menu at Gristmill is a definite winner; the new chef, Chris, puts a lot of heart and soul into his dishes. He consistently cooks the meat to the perfect temperature. The cocktails are always well mixed, great Manhattan. The caesar salad has one of the best dressings I've had, it is definitely worth the $2 upgrade. Great place to go on a date. Save room for the flourless chocolate cake.

He has been a great addition to our team since he came on board last May. We always look forward to taste his new menu creations which have been changing with more frequency. Stay tuned for what he'll do next. We hope to have the pleasure of you dining with us again sometime. Best, John and Kate

We visited over the New Years holiday and had a terrific evening. We had a reservation (it was quite full so I think a reservation on weekends or holidays is probably a must) and were seated quickly. My husband, the wine whisperer of our group, was encouraged to visit the wine cellar to pick our wines for the evening and that got our evening off on just the right foot. The food was a delightful high point in the trip after so much fairly standard fare. I had the pasta bolognese and could have imagined myself back in Italy. It was so savory I had to stop between each bite. We tried a few different bottles of wine and all of it was excellent, some we knew, some we didn't. The owner stopped by our table to greet us, warmly, and our server was skilled, knowledgeable and delightful. I will look forward to my return trip.
