“A piece of paradise”
Reviewed March 16, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Stayed in bothy cottage a charming cottage very clean and cosy just what I was looking for . It was well equipped with everything you could need for a home from home .T he ground it was set in are a delight to walk round and so peaceful all you could here was the sound of birds and the sound of the river running by which all helped to make our stay there so relaxing .The owners are very friendly and helpful and thier daughter is obviously following in thier foot steps .Gabriel who works there is also very friendly and helpful .The quackery is lovely to wonder round with some quirky and interesting things to see ( won't say anymore as it would spoil it for those who haven't been before ) .Having visited this area many times before I would highly recommend talhenbont hall cottages to stay at to explore the area as it is within easy reach of many of the top spots to see. Loved it here so much can't wait to return .

“Completely restful”
Reviewed July 22, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

First and foremost don't use a satnav to find it you end up at a ramshackle farm, secondly if you do arrive at said farm don't attempt the driveway! If in doubt head for the Bear Grylls centre or Harlech Foods. The entrance to Talhenbont Estate has a beautiful cottage at the gate. As you meander (10mph) down the driveway there are lots of squirrels and birds darting across the road. As you pass the main house you will see peacocks roaming the grounds or in some cases resting on the hood of the owners car! If you carry on to the right you get to the other 3 rental properties which are clustered around a courtyard, go to the left and you get to The Quackery which is where The Conifers Cottage is situated. The cottage is very twee but that is perfect for its style and era, it is full of dark beams and exposed stone. It feels more isolated as you have the whole of The Quackery as your garden. There are two issues which might tempt you to stay in one of the other properties; The Quackery as you can probably guess is chock full of birds, they woke me at 4am the first two days but after that I didn't notice the noise. The other thing is that in The Quackery particularly and around the house in general you cannot let dogs off the lead. The cottage was a dream to stay in as despite the initial early morning wake up call it was extremely restful. I would have preferred towels to have been provided and the bedding could do with updating but those are small quibbles. The estate was wonderful to walk round and my dog loved the woodland walk and playing in the river. Wear sensible shoes as the paths are slippy and to be honest don't rely on the handrails in the woods. If you want to take your dog to the beach try Criccieth beach (dogs to the right) it's rocky but beautiful and the café allows dogs. All in all we have never come back from a holiday so well rested. Last point of note there is no mobile signal or wifi so if you need to stay in touch bear that in mind.

“Character cottage”
Reviewed January 3, 2015 for a stay in September 2014

The cottage is situated in a shady spot within the grounds and near the bird sanctuary and play area. Mr Good was friendly and helpful. A car is essential and the area has a great many attractions for all age groups within an easy drive. A selection of leaflets about things of interest were only found at the end of the stay as they were tucked on a shelf under the TV. This should be more prominent.
The cottage was cooler than outside temperatures so take jumpers if you want to avoid high electricity bills. The furnishings and bed linen were OK but dated and towels were not included but we were informed of this. It was difficult to regulate the temperature of the shower in the utility room and this room would be improved by having a warm towel rail to dry towels and hooks to hang up clothing. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and had a good supply of portmerion pottery.
We enjoyed our stay but it wasn't as comfortable as previous rented cottages.
