“Great Stay”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

Great location, Staff friendly. Parking tight for my SUV but just took it slow and backed into spots. You could park on "roof" with no poles and lots of space. Internet worked great and is "secure" with a Cat-5 cable. Great Views, restaurants within walking distance. Took advantage of off season rates that are cheaper than Myrtle Beach. Will stay again!!!

to really sum it all up i would say "wee". its like a polly pocket hotel; but in a good way.
the rooms are really nice; we got a king suite with kitchenette and ocean front balcony at both living room and bed room. it is VERY quite in the room. GREAT location, about 2 blocks up from King Neptune. they have party tents set up outside; they haven't had any concerts, but if so here is the perfect spot! OF view of the party and "free" admission from your balcony. perfect view of the sunrise. great place for a great price.
only draw backs are TIGHT parking.....and i mean TIGHT!!!! i drive a beetle, and it makes me cringe to pull in and out of the garage. i urge you not to drive an suv or truck....rent a metro. they don't really have a lobby with a nice curb side unloading area like most places. also there isn't a free continental breakfast, nor is there free wi-fi in rooms; only the restaurant. they have Ethernet, but you have to buy a cable at the front desk.
definite plus is the shower!! the tub is HUGE and the shower has water pressure! better than home....and good shower pressure always wins my heart.

overall: great place, great use of space, great price, great view.

My husband and I stayed at the Four Sails on August 15-18, 2010 and loved it. We chose this hotel based on the reviews and this was a great choice.

Pros: Clean, easy check-in, easy check-out. Cute rooms, plenty of towels, nice Jacuzzi, awesome view of the beach, quiet, few rooms on each floor and nicely spaced so you don't hear your neighbors. Flat screen in the living room and bedroom; full kitchen. Free bikes to ride on the bike trail boardwalk. I could go on and on.

Cons: Infamous slow elevator but it honestly did not bother us and the tight parking lot.

This was truly a great experience for us. We would stay at the Four Sails again.

Side note: It was tough finding nice places to eat. Calypso Bar and Grill has horrible, horrible food; pricey and horrible, seriously. Pocahontas Pancakes was good with friendly service. There was a wait but it was worth it.

This was our first trip to Virginia Beach and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the beach is. No sea debris or litter. Loved the boardwalk area for walking and the bicycle path! And, we felt very safe walking all the way up and down the beach and on Atlantic Ave. So, a big thumbs up to Virginia Beach! The Four Sails is a clean place and the staff was very, very friendly. The one bedroom unit was small, but comfortable for my family of three. I feel that they made excellent use of every square inch of the unit. You can't beat the ocean view from the bedroom and livingroom area. We only used the kitchen area to make breakfast and heat up leftovers from the previous night's dinners for lunch. We did use the laundry facility on the second floor to wash a load of laundry every night and found it to be in good operating condition. We ate in the restaurant for lunch on three different days and found the food and prices to be about what you would expect at any other place on the beachfront. There are two downfalls to The Four Sails, however. 1- There is only one elevator and it is very slow and was out of service two different times during the week. 2- The parking lot is incredibly tight. If you have a large vehicle, I'd bypass this parking lot. We hit a pole while parking a midsize car, and later witnessed a three car accident in the garage on the second level. Other than these two considerations, the Four Sails is a nice place with a great location on the beach. I would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our teenage daughter. There was plenty of room for the three of us. My daughter thought the pull out sofa was comfortable. The room was spotless. When we arrived we noticed a few minor things - air conditioner not working properly, a small leak in the toilet and the kitchen cold water faucet was not working. We stopped at the desk and let them know. They immediately sent maintenance and things were repaired quickly, in fact we got a brand new air conditioning unit. No issues the rest of the week. The entire staff (front desk, housekeeping, maintenance) were tremendous - extremely friendly. The parking garage is tight but not unmanageable. We didn't have any issues with the elevator, yeah, at times slow, but people are coming and going all the time and I've stayed at many places where I've had to wait for the elevator. It's not the Hilton but it is a small business and run extremely well. If you are looking for 5 star amenities, this isn't the place. If you are looking for clean, comfortable, affordable and friendly with some beautiful views on a perfect spot on the boardwalk, we recommend Four Sails. We will definitely stay here again.

I would have to say that although this hotel has a GREAT location, view is unbelievable, nice indoor heated pool of avg 90 degrees, and the price cannot be beat...(7 nights for $640 during spring break?!) you do get what you pay for in terms of accommodations. I was disappointed in the room and felt more like I was down the NJ shore in a motel for most of my stay. The Four Sails needs much updating: linens- pillow cases and sheets were mismatched, and kitchen/ furniture was from the 80's. We had a King suite bedroom, with a sofa bed in the living room. and the sofa bed tilted downward which made it impossible to sleep on. We too experienced rather long waits for the elevator, there is only one, but it didn't bother us much. I would advise anyone staying there that if the smell of chlorine bothers you, then do not stay on floors 2-6, where your room entrance faces the indoor pool. Thankfully, we were on a higher floor and that was not an issue. Parking was a non issue. Our views were wonderful. My kids and husband enjoyed themselves and we would recommend this hotel to others looking for a bargain, but remember you do get what you pay for.
