Description: It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play..." and it was almost thirty four years ago today when the bands began to play, right here at Abbey Road. Owner Bill Dillon has been bringing the best in great food and live entertainment to the residents and visitors of Tidewater since 1982. Our fresh seafood, beef, and pasta dishes are summed up by The Virginian Pilot's reviews: "Abbey Road Leads Diners to a Satisfying Evening (1983)" and "Abbey Road is a great pub in the midst of a tourist location. For locals it is well worth the trip any time of the year (2008)." Hampton Road's Port Folio Magazine says: "Abbey Road is the Best Acoustic Venue in Tidewater, offering the best and the most variety..." After three years in the food service industry Bill decided in the fall of 1982 to open his own restaurant in the resort area of Virginia Beach. Heavily influenced by the Beatles when growing up, thanks to his two older sisters who listened to their records all the time, he decided to name it 'Abbey Road' after the last album the Beatles recorded (although 'Let It Be' was the last released) before they split up in 1970 (thanks, Yoko). Many national, regional, and local musicians have performed at Abbey Road since 1982, including: Richie Havens - the man who opened Woodstock, Ronee Blakely - toured with Bob Dylan, Livingston Taylor - James' brother, The Ventures -theme from Hawaii Five-O, Rick Roberts of Firefall, - wrote & sang many of their #1 hits, Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead, Robbin Thompson & The Robbin Thompson Band, Gove Scrivener, Lewis McGehee - toured with Bruce Hornsby, Lisa Noel, Mike Proffit & The Mike Proffitt Band, David Petretto, Keller Williams, Suzy & The Naturals, Catapult, T.K. Llegs, Acoustic Ceiling, Chuck 'Coyote' Larson & Robbie House & Norman Harrell of Snuff, and many, many more...

After introducing our friends to Abbey Road this year, this is going to be our traditional meeting place to have lunch on our way to the Outer Banks.

We had lunch here on a Saturday in December when many places were closed. We just had drinks and snacks but the service was good and the apps were tasty. I liked the decor and there was alot to look at.. Would like to come back in the spring and sit outside!

Our family had a Saturday afternoon lunch. We had no problem being seated, and our server was prompt and courteous. We also received our order in good time, and everything was good. Food was not exceptional, but good. Also important, restrooms were clean. The menu has a lot to choose from, and we would go there again.

Looking for a quick lunch among the many closed restaurants in Va. beach on black Friday, we stumbled on the Abby Road Pub. As we entered it was apparent that they were under staffed as a lot of tables were not bussed and the two servers we saw were doing the best they could. We seated ourselves as it became apparent there was no one to help us. A server soon aproached and after apologizing for the delay, took our order and then moved like a ballerina attending to other patrons needs, bussing tables, never missing a step. Our food aririved hot and tastey. She explained that the manager had underestimated the crowd based on the holiday. Although they lost quite a bit of business, the staff excelled in the face of overwhelming odds. I highly reccommed Abby Road and will definately return. They have been here since 1982. And with all the competition they must be doing something right.

We went with a party of 7 for lunch and arrived at opening. This was the second time there for the wife and I and a first for the others. We have never been for dinner so we can only judge the lunch fare. Our wait staff was excellent and left us wanting for nothing. The atmosphere is great if your a Beatles fan. One had the Chef salad and a bowl of Seafood Bisque, two had the French Onion soup; three had French Dip, two had the Club and I had the Fish & Chips. You must use Malt vinegar vice catsup for the Fish & Chips! The Clubs and French Dips all came with potato chips but you can ask for French Fries, Onoin rings or Sweet Potato Fries for a small charge. One got chips, one Sweet Potato fries and one regular fries. The wife and I shared an order of Onion Rings; they are beer battered, not breaded. Everyone was very pleased with the food. The only draw back was that they had run out of "white" bread so one of the Clubs was made with Rye instead. Overall, we all enjoyed the meal very much. Food was hot and the wait time was reasonable for the group. I'm sure we will visit again in the future.
