“GREAT SERVICE EXCELLENT HOTEL THANKS TO LARS NOAKSSON AND STAFF”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2010

We stayed for 2 days at this beautiful property and as always had the best service possible. We drive to this hotel from canada twice a year. Our room was ocean front club floor and since it was not ready when we arrived early, but we were able to go to the club lounge and wait. As we waited the manager Lars Noaksson asked if we were waiting for our room, in which we replied yes. He was gone in a flash to speak i'm guessing with house keeping. In turn he had the room ready for us in twenty minutes. We were very impressed with his great service. From the friendly greeting each morning to the excellent overall service of the staff this hotel is a cut above the rest. Highly recommended with very nice rooms, great restaurants, and service. This is in my opinion the best hotel in Virginia Beach.

one of the best dining experiences that we had while in Virginia Beach. located in the Hilton, we did not fine many good reviews on the restaurant so we did not eat there until our last lunch. had a great server, and the scallops and fried osters were just outstanding, the best we had at any restaurant during our 3 day stay. i thought our ocean front room was very nice and our total stay was most enjoyable. but when in virginia beach, make sure you eat at Catch 31

We are so glad that you had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant has won many awards, and we hope to continue on this path of success. Hopefully, you had time to experience our fire pits on the dining patio outside Catch 31. We hope that you return very soon and enjoy another stay with us, perhaps taking the opportunity to enjoy our four-diamond steakhouse, Salacia.

We normally don't write reviews on trip advisor, but we thought we would make the effort since we enjoyed this hotel so much. We have never been to VA Beach before and after reading several bad reviews on all the hotels we had no idea what to expect. The quality hotels are very expensive on the Beach and it is hard to decide what's worth the money; remember this is VA beach not the Caribbean. However the Hilton Ocean Front was well worth the money and we had an outstanding time. The staff was very friendly and exceeded our expectations. We did splurge on the oceanfront room and club level access which was worth it. Lars Noaksson who worked at the club level took care of anything we needed including an early check in which made the club level worth every penny! However all the staff really treated their guests exceptionally well and accommodated every request making the trip the best weekend getaway. For example at breakfast we felt their biscuits and gravy was a little runny so we mentioned it to the chef and he decided to cook a fresh batch without us asking him to do so and it tasted 100% better. The breakfast buffet and entire menu is exceptional.

The second biggest reason to choose this hotel is the atmosphere. The outside restaurant Catch 31 was really great and we were lucky to be around when there were concerts going on outside. Yes they do get very busy and don't expect your food in an instance, but it's a kind of place where you can’t expect to be in and out quickly; besides it’s on the beach, why would you ever want to leave. We just enjoyed ourselves so much on the patio and talking to other people who were there to have a fun time. During the concerts the crowd at Catch 31 was large. It was better than most any happy hour lounge you can find in a big city.

Beach access was extremely easy (just walk outside). The hotel provided vouchers for beach chair rentals and discounts on loungers; there were also Cabanas and umbrellas for a daily rental. The lounge chairs are so relaxing and big. The infinity pool on the 21st floor of the hotel was really different; you can see ocean all around. The pool bar staff was always available for food and drink service. It is in a small area so it can get crowded which is why we split the pool and beach during the day. But the pool was not your typical pool which made it nice. It was relaxing to sit on top of the 21st floor and feel the ocean breeze.

We decided to try the Sky Bar lounge on the roof top at night. We had such a good time and the atmosphere makes it worth the night. We will probably only stay hotel, when we return to VA Beach. The only con we had about this place was the rooms are small and so are the bathrooms. But you aren't supposed to stay in your room all day either. VA beach was a really fun party town during Labor Day. We aren't much for crowds, but the crowds here didn't bug us and we are excited about coming here again.

Small hotel, very nice. Worth the money. John the bellman checked us in, great job.
Lars and the twins great service! Christine bellman/person checked us out, also super. Large closets, held all our clothes, and we DO OVER PACK!!
Was there for 6 nights, then stayed 2 extra nights. We will be back.
Saw the Jonas Brothers at hotel, in pool, and in lobby. Made this extra fun for the children.

First of all, let me say this is a beautiful hotel. Nicely decorated, great location. Overall we had a nice stay; however, there were just a few snags that kept it from truly being a first class getaway.
Evidently, the staff are not trained that the customer is always right. If you truly want a superior experience for your patrons, then the staff needs to lose the attitude. We actually had a bartender at the SkyBar argue with my husband over a drink that wasn't to his liking (Molly I believe was her name). The drink didn't taste right to him, and she argued him down over the carbonation in the drink. I believe the proper response would have been, "I'm sorry sir, can I make you something else?". Especially when you're paying $5.00 for a coke.
We had a nice corner room on the cityview side. Beautiful view of both the ocean and Atlantic Avenue. However, it might have been nice if it had been explained when we checked in that there were bands that played on that side of the hotel until 10:00 p.m. each night. We did enjoy the music; however, I could see where that might have been a problem for a young family with small children who went to bed early or people who are early to bed types....
When we arrived in our room we had a message waiting advising us to pick up our packet from the Activities Desk, which included coupons, etc. The "Activities Desk" is actually a good cover for Gold Key timeshares. I don't like getting a sales pitch for a timeshare when I'm staying at what is supposed to be an upscale property. Can you see this at The Jefferson? No, no.....
Like I said, overall we had a good stay and a nice relaxing break. There are just a few tweaks needed by Hilton to make this a truly world class hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to rate our hotel on Trip Advisor. We are pleased to hear that on the whole, your trip was pleasant, and apologize for your experiences that were less than perfect.

We agree that the customer is always right, and sometimes we lose sight of that fact. We have spoken to the Associate to make sure they understand our practice of making the guest 100% happy, 100% of the time.

Recent trip for 4 days with the family in oceabfront club room was great (especially in light of decreased rates after labor day).Info:
*beautiful hotel, nicest in VA beach area. Only 3 elevators for a hotel this size is substandard but worked fine in a quiet week. All the staff were excellent. Rooms were average size but with a huge plasma tv plus small tv in bathroom. Doubled headed showere a plus too. Nice balconies with chairs for two..would be nice if there was a privacy wall for the balconies as your neighbors are only a few feet away on their balcony
.Oceanfront views are worth extra bucks if in your budget. even on 19th floor could hear ocean well and watching sunrise/sunsets plus dolphins daily a treat.
*club room offerings were only fair. Breakfast good-danish, muffin, yogurt. Bagels fair. Coffee good. no hot food, fruit --ample not great quality though
Light app every eve about 5-7 ie small trays (2)of food heated up + daily vegetables/dip.dessert minimal...brownies only 9-10. Other hrs had nuts and average at best cookies. Also coffee/tea , water , juice bottles, soda (only coke/diet coke) from 630a -10p.
*beach location nice. many mant restaurants w/i walking distance(fair quality..nothing great). Nicest restauraant is in hotel but quite expensive. Great location each night for drinks/live band.Small mall across the street .
Pool on top floor beautiful but very small size, infinity edge, goegeous looking. Indoor pool quite nice too. Upstairs bar is a bit of a scene and noted non hbotel guests sneaking in. Pool hrs could be later (8 or 9 pm i think was closing). Rooftop pool clientele not conducive to kids
Beach itself is nice , a few drifters though. One nice thing about location after labor day is the beach by the hotel did have a lifeguard (other hotel front locations didnt neccesarily have one).
Water in sept was great temp and could be rough but kids had a blast and a great sandbar so you could go out 70-80 yards fairly easily on a non rough day. Not much water visibilty
*dont pay 10$+ /day parking valet. Instead self park , short walk, across the street
*10.50/day internet use also is a joke at these prices

VA Beach is touristy with lots of pushy people trying to sell you stuff/ bother you on the street..even "off season".No rush to go back VA Beach but if so...we will stay here!

Nicest Hotel in VA Beach in my opinion - right next to Neptune statue - we had an oceanview not oceanfront like I usually get but it was on the corner of hotel so almost oceanfront and got to sit outside and watch great bands they had there every night. Stayed on 11th floor - fast elevators - everytime I asked for something a staff member would appear instantly - great service.
We had 2 double bed room - rooms on the small side - we rented small fridge and microwave to save on breakfast and some lunches - next time I think we will rent a condo.
Oceantop pool area was fantastic but outdoor infinity pool was a little small and not really suited for small kids to have a good time in. Skybar drinks were around $10.00 a piece - big rip-off but thats the way drinks were all over the beach.
All and all I was impressed with the service, cleanliness, beautiful surroundings.
