We went to the Mayflower Cafe for a family birthday lunch, at the recommendation of friends. What a great choice! You should go for the wonderful food, but the whole place was delightful. The service was very good also: attentive and friendly, and that helped make a good meal even better.
As soon as we were seated, we were brought the most sumptuous warm, home-baked whole-wheat pita bread. We also ordered the home-made eggplant salad and hummus, both of which were excellent. We were allowed to pick from the dinner menu as well as the lunch menu. The lamb/beef gyros were just superb, as was the Lamb with Portobello Mushrooms.
For dessert, we tried carrot cake, which was close to perfect, and baklava - utterly sumptuous.
It was a real pleasure to eat there. We'll certainly go back.
