My husband and I are in our 50's -- love the beach, but not crowded ones. We were worried about post Memorial Day crowds, but we're very pleased. The key is to stay on the North end of the boardwalk if you're the same. Translation: we won't stay in a hotel south of 31st Street. We slept in our Oceanfront room with the sliding glass door wide open all night, listening to the waves. The sunrises are picture-worthy and all you see is beach. The City manages the chair and umbrella rentals ($12 per chair &$15 umbrella); pricey - so bring them if you have your own. Plenty of restaurant and hotel prices available: do your homework
