“WOW ! AWESOME ! Amazing !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

The salmon crudo was an amazing mix of textures and tastes and so good we had it as a start, and another order to finish. This place is beautiful, as was the food. We sat at the sushi bar, which looks to be made from the cut of a teak or other tight grain tropical hardwood. The wait staff was more friendly than our regular sushi place, and seemed to all work very well together, and we could feel the benefit from it. I would have to say a good way to describe the place is good, good, good, nice clean fresh friendly and we will be back with friends, and experience so good it has to be shared !

“No other sushi compares!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

We've lived in Virginia Beach for a very long time and have been going to Mizuno for as long as I can remember. Any time we feel like having REAL sushi, Mizuno is the place we go. Every birthday, anniversary, or celebratory occasion, Mizuno is the only choice for our family. Although it is a bit pricey, it is TOTALLY worth every penny. Honestly, no other sushi compares! Being part of a Japanese family, we are very picky when it comes to our sushi. My favorite roll is their house specialty, the Mizuno roll. Oh, and don't forget dessert. Their crème brulee is scrumptious. If you haven't tried this place yet, you need to go!

“Modern but excellent Sushi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Modern interior in a Sushi/Japanese restaurant is a warning that you might get something that focuses more on design than taste but Mizuno pulls it off. Sushi was excellent across the board - Rainbow Roll, Metal Roll, Mizuno Roll, Nigiri, Vegi Roll (highly rated), and some of the best eel I've had. Oyster chowder was ok but you lose the taste of the oyster in the broth. Mochi had a delicious shell that nearly melts without losing texture and was very well done. Very expensive! But do you want to go once for the good stuff, or twice for something that's ok? Bring your wallet but at least you'll know your getting the good stuff.

“Ater 20 years it was time I review Mizuno”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

I have been eating at Mizuno for the last 20 years on a regular basis. My children have grown up with Mizuno and it is the standard they use for all sushi places they go to. It would not be in exaggeration to say Mizuno is the best sushi restaurant in Virginia. The new location is bigger and more beautiful, but the quality of the food has never been better. Toro is now a staple on the menu. It is pricey but delicious. I love the seasonal approach Wataru uses in his food and his selection of ingredients. I love summer for the local fresh tomatoes and they make the tasty scallop dish even more special.

If you don't eat sushi don't fret. The chicken cutlets and tenderloin steaks will not disappoint.

Mizuno is a family operation Mamasan makes the dumplings, Mike (the dad) will make an appearance and greets all the patrons. Awesome man. Wataru is a Japanese trained sushi master with the highest standards for freshness and quality. If someone in VB mentions another sushi place as the best in town, you should smile and think to yourself, that guy does not know good sushi.

“Our Favorite Treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Mizuno's is quite simply the best sushi restaurant in at least a 100 mile radius. The new expanded location is beautiful, and the staff seems to be able to keep up with the increased capacity with the same exceptional service & quality we've come to expect.
Sit at the sushi bar if you can and get comfortable, because you're going to want to savor this experience.
