“say no to wallys famous crab cakes”
Reviewed October 28, 2010

this is the third time my husband and i have eaten here. love the location and ambience. our waitress jessie was awesome. our appetizer of steamed shrimp was good. my entree of scallops was good. however, my husbands entree, crab cakes was mealy, full of filler and tasteless. i would recomend that wally consult a southern woman who was raised on the bay to learn how to make a crab cake from only gormet meat and a few ingredients to hold it together.......very disapointing.

“Two words - Crab Nachos!”
Reviewed October 20, 2010

You have to know about this place before hand and know where and how to find it. We arrived a few minutes before they opened and walked all about the place trying to find out how to get in before seeing the small sign outside with the menu and what time they opened. We walked around for another ten minutes and then came back to see the fence open and lights in the bushes illuminating the way. The early night air was perfect for an outdoor table and we loved the simple charm of the white lights on the tables and all over the wraparound porch.
Our server, Jamaal, was extremely nice and was genuine, taking pride in all the compliments we gave him.
I knew as soon as I saw Crab Nachos on the menu that my boyfriend would want to get those for an appetizer. They were the best nachos we have ever had; huge chunks of crab! We were fighting over the "best bits" and was literally scraping the bowl with the chips, savoring every bite. Even as I write this, my mouth is watering with the memory! We also ordered two sandwiches to share: the Crabcake Sandwich and the Cavalier Wrap. The Crabcake Sandwich was very good, but I would only ask for the bun toasted to have a different texture so it's not all so soft. The Cavalier Wrap was amazing! The wrap was only $7.25, but had at least $7 worth of roast beef on it. We had absolutely no room for dessert, but I really wanted to try the Key Lime Pie, so we got it to go. We enjoyed it later that night in the hotel room with some freshly brewed coffee; delicious!
This was our favorite restaurant during our stay at Virginia Beach. We might have to take a day trip up there just for some more Crab Nachos!

“excellent local charm”
Reviewed October 17, 2010

The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Local fish favorites, excellent service,
warm atmosphere, local beers. Definitely would recommend and visit again. A cute local
restaurant that is appealing with a large selection on the menu.

“This place is awesome!”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

We love eating at local places while on vacation. That is what led us to Tautogs. It is a simple little cottage located on a side street in Virginia Beach. The atmosphere is wonderful. The restaurant is very cozy and eclectic. Our waitress knew the menu inside and out and was very helpful with helping us make our choices. We had the she crab soup for an appetizer. Very good. I had the tuna martinique. It was melt in your mouth good. My husband had one of the specials. It was a crabcake served with jasmine rice and greens. It too was excellent. For dessert, we had the bread pudding. It was very good as well. The only downside about this restaurant is that they do not have a children's menu. They did offer pasta and there is a pizza on the appetizer menu. That would not keep me from coming back again though! This is a great place.

“This place is off the hook!!!”
Reviewed October 3, 2010

Just looking for local seafood restaurant, we happened to come across these reviews and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was nice, very busy around 8:30PM but we were able to get a table quickly. Staff was very attentive and the food was phenomenal. We had the Nori Wrapped Tempura Fried Tuna Roll... it absolutely melted in your mouth. The rest of the food that we had was equally as good. We give it a thumbs up x 10.
