“A nice tribute”

Reviewed June 1, 2014

With the US Navy connections to the Virginia Beach and Norfolk areas this was a really nice memorial and also does its best to explain what the US Navy does and what the families go through for long periods of time whilst on Deployment.
Always looks good in the sun and the evening light.

This is a very well-done monument -- not overly large, but a good size for such a place at the beach. It's on a plot of land between the boardwalk and Atlantic Avenue. You can walk around all of the exhibits easily. There are several nice, large statues depicting Naval Aviation moments and lots of write-ups about various highlights. It's free and enjoyable.

During the summer months - from July 4 to Labor Day, there is a free 25-minute program about Naval Aviation given at that location -- I believe 3 or 4 nights per week, a couple times each of those nights (check Beach Events for times). It's a fantastic show that gives the entire 100 year history of Naval Aviation up to the present and this year I hear it will include more about the Navy Seals. They have seats available and it's free.

We stopped here on several occasions going up and down the boardwalk. The content is very interesting. The statues are cool. I would consider this the most interesting and worthwhile stop off the boardwalk.

I really enjoyed this and was impressed! I wasn't expecting to spend as much time as I did there but am glad I did.

This is a nice area for a public monument. Children love exploring and reading through the historic accounts. Close to boardwalk!
