“Cultural Jewel”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

The Virginia MOCA stands as a true cultural jewel in Hampton Roads. We visit often, with our recent sojourn to enjoy the outstanding Andy Warhol exhibit. The gallery is ever changing with fresh and exciting exhibitions. We keep it on our list of things to do in Virginia Beach. There is always something new to see and enjoy. The staff is super friendly, they have plenty of parking, the grounds are really lovely, and the gift shop is cool too. It is one of those places where you can really just relax and enjoy...

“Tranquil and kid friendly oasis of modern culture”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

In some ways, I think this was a better experience than our visit to the VA Children's museum in Portsmouth.

We visited the Virginia MOCA with my 2.5 year old and her grandfather. The grounds are serene and peaceful. The Warhol exhibit was thoughtful and concise. I appreciated it when the security guard told my toddler that she could play with the enormous mylar clouds of the Silver Cloud piece. My daughter loved that part.

The interactive areas with the reading lounge and art activities were engaging and creative. We spent most of our time coloring and reading. I perused the monthly event calendar and liked that there are a lot of family events.

We visit VA Beach about 3 times a year so will add this to our roster of frequently visited places.

“Andy Warhol-Portraits”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

The exhibit is a wonderfully curated collection of Andy Warhol's work. Outside of Pittsburg it has only been seen in Spain and VA. The gift shop is filled with neat Warhol merchandize and unique jewelry.
