it's our first trip to va beach and checked on trip advisor for different hotels in the area. i was attracted to this place based on the positive reviews, and from my friend's previous vacation photos from this place. This is a timeshare property but we paid on our own and this hotel is not cheap. We arrived just in time for the 4pm check in and we were checked in 30 mins late, after me and my husband complained that we had a long day, no apologies whatsoever from the front desk, and would not give us a time what time time our room would be ready-the first negative comment. Another negative comment would be that this hotel doesn't have its own parking space, if you are self parking, parking is one block away and the fee is $8; if you will do valet, it is $16, but very convenient because you don't have to walk a block away and get your car everytime you need it. We had an ocean front one bedroom suite on the second floor and the view was to die for, w/ the beach just a stone's throw away. This room has 3 flat screen tv's, 2 jet tubs and the dining room can sit up to 10 people. We booked for 3 nights. On our 2nd night, the fire alarm went off at 3am, it was a voice alarm saying we need to go out because there's a fire in the building. i immediately woke up my husband and 3 kids to get ready to go out, but i told my husband to call the front desk to confirm if it's a real fire alarm so he called the front desk and they said it was a false alarm. i was thinking- so why didn't they inform us, we were ready to get out of the room thinking that it's a real fire alarm had we not called them. so we went back to sleep then at about 5am, the alarm went off again, this time i called the front desk to confirm and they said it's a false alarm, and they said they already called engineering to fix the problem, no apologies from the front desk. then maybe 15-30 mins later the alarm went off again, this time i was really mad and called the front desk again, that's the only time i heard an apology from the lady in the front desk. I'm a real light sleeper and sensitive to noise so i heard every alarm that went off. The alarm went of and on every 15-30 mins up to 10am. I talked to the manager that morning and told her i refused to pay for my 2nd night. the manager said if im willing she could move us to another suite and the last 2 nights are on the house because of the inconvenience. We were moved to a 2 bedroom ocean front suite on the 16th floor w/ better views and better rooms. this suite has its own washer & dryer. but the time we spent packing & unpacking could have been spent on the beach or the pool. the front desk personnel could use a little more training on customer service.

My mom and dad bought the penthouse on the 17th floor oceanfront view with 2 units prior to the building opening 2 years ago. Unfortunately, my mom died prior to the grand opening, but this week her husband, kids and grandkids are enjoying a fabulous week in the opulent suite. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, dining table that seats 10, full kitchen, breathtaking decks and windows, and all the finishing are first class. With lots of kids in tow, the practical things like an in suite washer and dryer, dishwasher, 2 refrigerators, vacuum, and lots of storage made a big difference. The master bath was over the top (and really almost a waste of space). But if you like bathroom that has everything, this is for you. (We put the baby crib in the bathroom so she could have her own room.) The valet guys were on top of things and the activities were fun as well. The location on the beach is perfect and you can literally watch all the beach action from your balcony. One note to the kitchen designers: The placement of the cabinets near the stainless refrigerator makes them unusable...which really doesn't matter for a weekly rental. But the kitchen designers need to really review their measurements. Overall, the place is fantastic. By far, the best place to stay in Virginia Beach.

Room Tip: Penthouse suite, oceanfront. You can see everything in Virginia Beach from your room.

This hotel is what I've been looking for this side of the Bahamas. Gorgeous. Spent only a brief week-end, but wanted to stay forever. Clean ( of course it had just opened), attention to details (even had a touch faucet in the kitchen area!), and the "adult only" pool was just that! As kids tried to sneak in, they were politely asked to enjoy the kid friendly pool and water playground. Imagine that!!!

We are owners. First big problem at check in. We had requested a high floor. They claim that they thought floor 11 was "high". technically may be but we were one floor over the "owner's suite" and sun deck on 10. Not a problem we were told because the deck closed at 7:30. Not so it turned out. At 10:30 folks were chilling out there, right under our balcony. The one guy smoking the cigar was just too much. Folks touring to buy would turn to me as I sat on the balcony reading and asked how I liked the place; well, duh!?

On the positive side: no noise from the neighbors; beds smallish (not true queens-more like slightly large double beds) but pretty comfortable. Space and furniture was well laid out and comfortable. Kitchen was nice but the pots and pans were awful. Bring your own favorite skillet if you want to cook your own eggs for breakfast.

The location was worth a million dollars. We own ocean front and the view (once you get past the above negatives) is unbelievable. The boardwalk and the ocean are only a few feet from the front door. This place is smack dab in the middle of everything. Parking is not too far away; just a short walk. The beach chair and umbrella rentals can be charged to your room. The nicer chaise is worth the extra dollars for the comfort. Great restaurants are within an easy walk (do not miss EAT!).

Not a resort. Not for a minute can you call this place a resort. But it is nicely what it is: a time share apartment in the ocean.

Try to rent a unit on the re-sale market and not from the "resort". Much better prices.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room over 12th floor.

We stayed at Oceanaire during July 4 week. and did not have any of the issues at check-in described elsewhere. We were in an oceanfront front 1BR suite on the north end and did not have the construction noise or bad view. From the time we pulled in to the time we left the staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel is in a great location on the boardwalk and wide beach. There are amenities galore including several pools with one over 21 only, firepit for conversation, martini bar, poolside drink/food service with 9am bloody mary specials, sun deck on 10th floor and fitness room in the ocean Beach Club adjoining. Parking is across street in a covered garage and should be free, but is $8 per night. The room was spotless, with the only complaint being they are very stingy on kitchen furnishings. one meal only with place settings available, no scrub pad to clean pans, no measuring spoons. I know this sounds petty because resorts expect you to eat out, but we prepare most meals due to dietary restrictions and there IS a full size dishwasher.

There is so much to see and do in VA. Beach in the summer and during this week we saw cover bands free along the boardwalk for U2, Journey and Bruce Springsteen. All were very good. Did SUP at Rudee Inlet Stand Up Paddle, saw Cirquesa.. Just a great vacation with Oceanaire at the center.

there is much

Room Tip: Ask for room on the north side to avoid construction noise and view.
