Can't say away from the crowd, because, there are always people here if the sun is shining. But, over all more family friendly than the boardwalk area. Could use a play structure on the beach side.

There are a lot of high-end rental properties on this beach, but the beaches are not too crowded, and the sand dunes are lovely. One downside (for me) is the distance that one needs to travel to get basic necessities, like bread, etc. But it's a good place to get away from it all.

LOVE IT. Off the beaten path from the tourist traps. We go to Little Island Park (end of the main drag) and False Cape Park. This is a wonderful little beach spot with a nice pier, beaches with lifeguards, playground for the kids and shelters for picnicking and grilling. Dogs are allowed on the beach leashed and the pier is great for walking on or sitting under. This is still one of the pearls of Virginia Beach which has been fast sold out in the name of $$. Want to get off the beaten path? Go to Sandbridge.

Sandbridge Beach is a little further drive from the boardwalk on Virginia Beach but it is not as crowded if you just want to enjoy the beach and the ocean.

so beautiful, clean and spacious. the waves were lots of fun to splash in. we didn't have to worry about parking because we stayed in sandbridge. the children's park was a bonus.
