“Always Alive”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Over the years the Virginia Beach Boardwalk has evolved from a drab uninteresting place that was seedy to a first class boardwalk with good hotels and very good restaurants. The boardwalk is lighted at night and there are always people walking or riding on the boardwalk. The boardwalk has dedicated lanes for cyclists and bladers. During the season there is usually something scheduled every week. It is fun to attend concerts on the beach. Bring your own chair and refreshments and enjoy some good music-Pat Benetar, Grand Funk, Motown groups, etc. In addition to the large stage on the beach there are smaller stages and venues along the boardwalk for smaller concerts and attractions. Some of the big events are scheduled on Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th, Labor Day, and of course the Neptune festival during the entire month of September with a sand sculpturing castle that rivals all others. There are other events during the weeks between the main events. Yes the Virginia Beach Boardwalk is alive and kicking.

“Should not be charged for the boardwalk”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Do not charge customer to walk the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, virginia. Children should be able to visit the area without cost.

“a Must do..”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

I have been coming to VA beach twice a year for the last 6 years and I cant seem to get enough of it. Its best to go online and check for street performances such as latino heritage festival, Christmas light parades, etc. Nonetheless, if you come to VA beach you have to get on the boardwalk. We usually start on one end of the boardwalk and walk to 16th street and take a break at the Dairy Queen. My son is young and we have him take pictures on the many statues of animals and dinosaurs along the boardwalk. They even have a beach park on both ends of the boardwalk. One park is handicap friendly while the other one next to the "Statue" has slides, swings and monkey bars. Many restaurants throughout the boardwalk. I like going to the beach in the fall time SEP-OCT. Its still warm and the crowds are not as thick.
