Its pretty much the highest point in Virginia Beach, which makes for some great kite flying when the weather's nice. Great play area for younger kids, and plenty of trails around a man made lake. Reasonable free parking.

So this is a mountain made of trash, and the crowning jewel in Virginia Beach's tarnished, badly coroded, cown.

For some reason this is the only good thing Virginia Beach has ever done. Never mind it has filled up with toxic gases and other poisons and has to be vented now. Try to ignore the primordal soup called lakes that could be a center peice in a 1950's monster flick. Ignore the total disuse of the park for its intended purposes of free local concerts and events. Virginia Beach had a dream of piling trash into a mound and people liking it and dag nabbit they did it!

So stroll its thread bare top and watch the methane pipes desperatly try and avert a growing tragedy. Sit in the heavily medicated grass and contimplate wether that broken peice of glass grinding into your postier is fresh, or if it has shifted up from the layers laid down in the 1970's. Gaize upon the 8 lanes of traffic wizzing by and inhale that massive dose of carbon monoxide with sea spray you can only get in Virginia Beach.

Fun for the whole Family!

What Virginia Beach did with a mountain of trash is amazing. This is worth seeing... I noticed a lot of locals, running up the mountain and down the mountain. It has two nice lakes and a playground with a skatepark. Just something nice for the community to enjoy, instead of a mountain of stink with buzzards flying over it. A great idea and hopefully more states will take notice to this world renowned idea...!

The playground is really elaborate and the ground under it is made of recycled tires. Its very bouncy and soft. Good for safety sake and fun to jump up and down on. There are soda machines and bathrooms, a pretty lake to look at and a huge hill to climb and run down, which the kids really enjoy. You can fly kites and run around the track.

We're spending the holiday in Virginia Beach and stumbled upon Mt. Trashmore on Christmas Day. Everyone in the family needed to get outside, walk/run around and Mt. Trashmore was fantastic. The mountain was busy with walker, runners and lots of kids rolling up and down. My son did is three times. The paved paths around the water are in very good shape. The only negative was the bathrooms were closed.
