“Clean and comfortable”
Reviewed July 5, 2011

If your looking for a four or five star hotel. This is not it, but if your looking for a clean and comfortable room, that is also a good value. Then this hotel is what your looking for. After reading some of the reviews, I must admit, I was a little worried about staying here, but the hotel was not as bad as some of the reviews made it out to be. I stayed in room 209 and it was a very nice room. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The carpet looked new, and the view was amazing. All rooms are oceanfront two room suites, with two double beds in one room and a pull out sofa in the other room. There was a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, sink and a small cooktop stove. you will need to bring your own paper plates, bowls, cups etc.
The only negative aspect of the room was the bathroom. It is very small, ( but clean ) and located in the bedroom. Just a little awkard if your trying to sleep and someone needs to use it. As for the continental breakfast. It could use some improvement.
The hotel only has one small elevator, so I would recommend requesting a room on the second or third floor, that way you can use the stairs. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us with parking, because we had two cars. We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Room Tip: Request a room on the lower floors

This hotel looks NOTHING like the pictures on the website. We arrived June 28th and check in was fast. Got our luggage and jumped in the elevator which is so small that only 4 people can fit at a time. I doubt it's been serviced in a very long time. For the rest of our stay we used the stairs!! As for the stairwell.....toward the end of our stay someone urinated in the corner of the 2nd floor landing. It never did get cleaned up!!! When we opened the door to our room, we were horrified. The only plus about the room is that we had an oceanfront balcony. The pullout sofa was dirty and uncomfortable. The carpet looked dirty. The bathtub still had hair in it from the previous renters. The lights in the bedroom were falling off the wall. The outlet behind them was pulling out of the wall. The small kitchen area was a nice option, but was in serious need of updating. The cupboard doors were falling off and there were holes in the wall inside the cupboards. I was afraid we'd see roaches or mice crawling out of them...luckily we didn't. The water in the room smelled like sewage.....it was disgusting. The air conditioner in the living area was awful. My husband was going to clean the filter and realized that half of it was missing. The railing on the balcony was loose. The one lock on the entry door was broken. Breakfast wasn't awful. They had mini donuts, frosted flakes, raisin bran, fruit, oatmeal, mini muffins and on occasion, danishes. We paid $139.99 a night....Friday night was $159.99. It is one of the cheaper hotels on the oceanfront. I just can't believe that a Wyndham owned hotel would be maintained so poorly. We stayed at Days Inn oceanfront last year (also a Wyndham owned property) and it was MUCH nicer than this place.

Continental breakfast had limited donuts and no milk for cereal, there are coffee makers in the rooms but no coffee pots. We did not see any bugs. View is nice. Front desk staff helpful. Very small cramped pool in parking lot. No kitchen accessories.

Room Tip: all ocean view balconies

The only good thing about this hotel was the location. It was dirty, smelled horrible. I was afraid to lay down in the bed. The beds had douvet covers and I pulled my cover back to find a filthy comforter. The tile was cracked and broken when we walked into our room. The wall was crumbling apart by the balcony. The bathroom was so tiny and there was something brown splattered on the wall. The website said 'free crib' and when I called the front desk, they told me they only had 2 cribs and they were being used, which really sucked with a 1-year-old. I didn't read the other reviews until after we had gotten there or I would have NEVER booked this place. There is one rickity old elevator for 8 floors and it only holds 6 people so with 5 people in my family, we would have to wait and wait. We did take the stairs which were disgusting and reeked of urine. Please, stay far, far away from this hotel. My husband questioned who inspects the hotels to find the conditions acceptable!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!!!

The location is easy access from the main road into Virginia Beach. Close to all the shops and restaurants. Free parking, some covered. All rooms are oceanfront with a small balcony. Suites have a decent amount of room and were clean. The bathroom is very small, accessible only from the bedroom, due to its odd design. Only one elevator (6 people max) can mean a wait to get up or down. Staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very basic, juice or coffee with cereal or some high calorie mini muffins or donuts. This is not luxury accommodation, but compared to similar properties on the beach, this provides good value.

we were disappointed in the first room we tried. the air conditioner was held up by 2 2x4's, the kitchen cabinets had crumbs and food left behind. the room we settled for was not much better. the linens were clean, supplied with towels and toiletries, but the construction or remodel was awful. i don't remember the last time i watched a tv with poor reception. the coffeemaker was caked with crud, and the toilet wasn't flushed from the prior visitor, yuk!!! there was not a handicap parking spot and i don't see how anyone with a wheelchair could get around the hotel and definately not in the room. you had to walk sideways to get to the bathroom because the bed was only 18 inches from the wall. the breakfast area was a joke, that all i have to say about that. it looks like retrofit after retrofit, instead of fixing things properly. not happy and i see that the manager only responds to the positive comments on tripadvisor which is ashame. i am a manager and i always give feedback to positve and negative concerns. my family will be letting everyone know to never stay at this travelodge on facebook, twitter, and such. good luck to those who already have reservations. take sanitizer, and plan on eating out and not using the kitchenette.
