Don't be fooled by the initial impression from the road, this is some of the best food in the area, period, which is exactly why it was featured on The Food Network. Don't miss it!

Saw this on Diner's, Drive-ins, & Dive's with Guy. What a good decision to go here. We arrived around 10:30, were nervous at first since no-one else was there before knowing the restaurant didn't open until 11am...LOL...There was a beautiful gift shop next door to browse through if you arrive early.
We had a great lunch! Beef tenderloin and salad, chicken salad & potato salad & green salad, virginia ham sandwich on a sweet potato biscuit with potato salad & fish soup & green salad, tuna wrap with potato salad. Everyone also had melon with their lunch.
Everything was great and good size portions. After lunch we were offered an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie that was out of this world and large enough for 4 at $2.25 can't beat that.
For 4 of us with 20%+ tip was $60, well worth every penny.

They also have a produce market with ultimate watermelon, nice looking veggies

On our way to ORF airport and pulled in for a "quick" lunch. At 11:00 we were 4th in line and eat on the covered deck despite a light rain. The service was very good. We had fried green tomatoes - excellent, hummus with a really good crusty bread - also excellent, then Mahi Mahi with a peach sauce - better than excellent. Never has a blue berry - basil mohito until this day, served in a half pint ball jar, it was worth the lifetime wait. Serving sizes were just right. When we left about an hour and a half later, the waiting line was about twenty people in the light rain, restaurant filled. It's certainly family friendly, on our next trip our family will be with us and we will get there early.

Cannot share enough great words about the Leaping Lizard. I truly had a tough time wanting to write this review because I am afraid we will not be able to get a table the next time we return to Virginia Beach. :) The food is amazing for everything is prepared fresh everyday. Our waitress, Linda was the best waitress we have had in many year, if ever! We loved it so much we ate there both nights we were in Virginia Beach. The Leaping Lizard is doing everything right for a most enjoyable and fun dining experience.

I've been to the the Leaping Lizard several times now. I've tried something different each time and have loved everything I tried. You are given a variety of things with each meal. I think their sweet potato biscuit and ham was delicious!! It's a small place with seating inside and outside. I have always had a pleasant experience during my visits.
