We live on the Eastern Shore and make trips across the Bay every 4-6 weeks and had passed by the Leaping Lizard on our way to the bridge-tunnel many times. A couple of weeks ago a friend and I were across the Bay and he asked if I'd ever eaten there. Neither of us had so we stopped and had the sampler plate. The next week I was back with my husband. The food is fresh, the servings more than ample and everything looks and tastes great....not your average "off the restaurant supply truck" variety. I'm still trying to figure out how they chop the eggs for the egg salad. The roaming chickens add humor, the gift shop is very cute. It's refreshing to find a restaurant with positive attitude and an original signature.

Three generations of our family enjoyed a fabulous afternoon at Leaping Lizard for lunch. We sat on the covered porch as we swooned over FRESH, HOMEMADE, DELICIOUS, CREATIVE fare. It seems you cannot go wrong - every dish was excellent - from salads to sandwiches to dessert. Loved the chickens roaming about, produce stand, friendly staff, cordial owner. This place is a winner.

One of my favorite local restaurants! Just recently extended their season, with a lovely covered deck. Well-kept chicken coop in the rear provides entertainment, and the small farmer's market is great when you can catch it! Low-key style, nothing fancy. Definitely need a reservation if you are going for dinner though. Lunch is packed as well, but they don't take reservations. Get there early, as seating is limited (they open at 11 for lunch). While you're waiting for your table, be sure to check out the attached gift shop--2 stories of fun, quirky gifts. Oh, and the food is A-MAZING!

The atmosphere here is great fun - the tables are on a little patio shaded by an overhang draped with a fun mix of crooked, creaky ceiling fans and flowing greenery. My food was good, but it wasn't hot - which was a surprise, because we were one of the first diners to nab tables when it opened on Sunday. Brunch is obviously something people wait in long lines for. I had the crab cake eggs benedict, which was very flavorful - but the combination of having to wait nearly 40 minutes for our food and then be served a lukewarm plate of it kind of mellowed what could have been a perfect experience. It's a fun atmosphere, and I would try this place again, but I was a little bit disappointed this first time around.
