“Disappointed”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

Overall, our stay was okay. The first day we arrived, I noticed that the room wasn't terribly clean. The carpets were stained, the wallpaper was torn and garbage from the last tennants was still behind the tables and couch. The female pool attendant had given us a hard time the three hours that we were at the pool. Finally, we had a chance to speak to her supervisor and she had finally backed off. Needless to say, the first few days there were very uncomfortable due to another rentee. My family felt like we were constantly walking on egg shells. I wasn't a fan of all the pool area rules. I don't understand that if "No lifeguard on duty" is 24/7 why the hot tub couldn't be used passed 10pm, nor the chairs or tables around the pool area. It almost had the feeling of summer camp when we were teenagers. Also, I didn't care for the pool area being locked/closed after 10pm, not that it mattered to security when people were having "relations" in the pool, they just walked by and left them do thier "deeds", but families weren't allowed to swim when they wanted to. Our room was on the opposite end and it was cumbersome to have to go through the lobby and through 3 different sets of doors, just to get to our floor. I was happy we had a washer and dryer. That was the highlight of staying there. When a do not desturb sign is on the door, it's there for a reason. Not to get a phone call at 10am to tell us that it was there. This happend numerous times. All in all, I am not sure if we would stay there again. We lived in VA BCH for 12 years and now we like to vacation there and see our friends. For a timeshare resort, I wasn't crazy about the number of "rules" for the price paid. Not to mention, the last two days there, my husband had to kill at least 3 roaches near the fireplace.

Family vacation to Virginia Beach. We exchanged our timeshare for week at the Turtle Cay. We stayed in a one bed room suite, 3rd floor, with an exceptional patio view of the courtyard complete with 2 pools and 2 jacuzzis. The staff was always polite and accommodating. Our suite was spacious with a living room, full kitchen, large bathroom with tub and shower, and king sized bed. Everything was in good working condition and despite one stain on the carpet, generally very clean. The only negatives were: entrance to suite is through the bedroom and the AC unit was very loud, and located next to the bedroom. Positives included: underground parking, proximity to the beach, 1 block, use of pools and jacuzis, use of exercise room and steam room at Beach Quarters, located across the street. I would recommend this hotel and plan to exchange to Turtle Cay again in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for view of pool area. One elevator, located in center of complex.

Normally spend a week here during July. Resort is located on the southern, quiet end of Virginia Beach. Rooms are typically, clean witn little to no issues. The front desk will take care of any problems you have.

Room Tip: This is not ocean front so ask for a room facing the pool.

We were treated to a long weekend at Turtle Cay by our son and daughter-in-law along with their 11 year old twins. It was just perfect.
We had a two bedroom suite with full kitchen, 2 1/2 baths, balcony and large living room.
Everything was in perfect order and the set up was ideal for a multi-generational family.
It was near everything, parking was on premises, and totally accessible in-and-out.
The kids really enjoyed the two pools and closeness to the beach and its amenities.
There were great restaurants within walking distance.
The only negative was that there was no information about the hotel and the area in the room or provided at check-in. We only learned as we were leaving that there were "sister" hotels right nearby with indoor pools we could have used.

Room Tip: We liked the privacy of a third floor corner room facing the courtyard.

Arrived late friday night, check-in was quick. Asked for and received a 3rd floor unit. The rooms are large and the view of the pools is nice. This was also monster truck weekend so there was some noise from the beach. Only complaint is that they charge for Wifi in the room.

My family and I were there for Spring break. We stayed there for a week. We absolutely loved it! Turtle Cay is a beautiful resort! The front desk was friendly, our room was clean and nice, the pool amazing (heated), and the location was great! We also like the fact that it is a gated community so no random people from the street can come into this resort. We definitely will go back there again!

Arrived at turtle cay for a 4 night stay with my husband 9 and 5 year old we stayed in a king suite 1 bedroom ... If need more than one bed go with the 2 bedroom because the sofa coach is not fit for sleeping on. The rooms are extremely noisey you can hear other rooms, traffic and most of all the noisiest ac so you can either be really hot and shut it off or try really hard to sleep with the noise. From the minute you check in they push the time share on you and don't quit even after several no thank yous. Not at all what I expected from the website and wish I had paid closer attention to trip advisor reviews of the noise. Also not beach front. Also not mentioned on the site you have to pay for housekeeping $10 just to replace towels and $30 if you want a cleaning done daily. Visited myrtle beach to previous April vacations as recommend over Virginia beach much more to offer and do .
