What a wonderful place to see World War I and II vintage planes, both from the United States and some German planes, and listen to people who have actually flown in them and have experience in using them to the full. This museum was well worth the ticket price, which is nominal. It does require quite a bit of walking but it is amazing that these planes are in such good condition and also amazing that they still fly. We would go there again if we were ever in the area.

This was a very interesting museum with many "flyable" airplanes from WWI and WWII. The docent / guide was very knowledgeable, and you could pretty much tour at your own rate.

I am borderline obsessed with aviation. I truly enjoyed my visit to this museum. The volunteers were well educated on the displays and shared several pieces of information that I consider extremely valuable. Unique displays all thoughout the museum. Wonderful experience overall.

What a great privately owned museum on September 20. A fantastic collection of pre-WWI, WW I, WW II and up to Vietnam-era airplanes. Almost all are operable and use an adjacent private runway. British, French, Russian and German planes are represented, along with US. Also uniforms, some vehicles. The docents are knowledgeable and the cost is low, for such a fine collection.

We came to Virginia Beach for a Navy reunion. Someone suggested that we take a break from the beach and go 14 miles south to see this museum. It really is fantastic, a great collection of WWI, WWII, Allied, German, and Russian aircraft. Even the buildings are worth inspecting. One is a mock up of a WWI hangar. Another is an actual German hangar taken apart, restored and rebuilt in Virginia Beach.
Every single aircraft and vehicle is in excellent condition. Some of them are truly unique, one of a kinds. Everyone volunteering there is happy to spend as much of their time with you as you want so that you get the most enjoyment out of the facility.

The museum is about 7 miles south of Rudee Inlet. The road to it is winding but there are only a couple of turns and they are at major intersections. It is located just a little south of the village called Pungo and anyone there can point it out to you.

My best tip is to visit Monday to Friday when there are mechanics at the "Fighter Factory" at work rebuilding historic aircraft. You can get up close to watch. It is closed on the weekend and you can only look through the large picture windows.
