PT Cruisers, bi-planes, tri-planes, Corsairs... and so much more!
If you love the Air and Space Museum in DC, you HAVE to make a trip to Virginia Beach to see this place.
Beautiful hangars... stunning restored planes... and if you come on the right day at the right time, prepare to be thrilled with not just seeing them on the ground but in flight!
Everyone of the planes in this museum is flight-ready... and fly they do!
A must for plane aficionados!

While not as big as the Smithsonian collection of planes (the one out by Dulles airport), they don't have barnstomers out back (the planes that pull the signs up and down the oceanfront come back to this museum periodically to drop off old signs and pick up new ones, all without landing).

The WW2 aircraft are amazing.

Last fall I had the opportunity to visit the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the airplanes displayed there. The building housing the planes was spotless. What made my visit even more enjoyable was the fact that my son-in-law and his 95 year old grandfather accompanied me. His grandfather served during World War II and flew planes similar to those on exhibit. Not only was it great to see the many planes there, it was also wonderful to see him and other veterans of that war chatting about the planes and their experiences flying them. Information pertaining to the museum can be found at:

http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/

Attached are 2 pictures taken there. I am not sure that the large B-17 is housed there. It may have been flown in for some special occasion. The grandfather can be seen in both photos (man with hat).

I'm not big into planes, but visits like these get me into them more and more. Alot of nice planes and volunteers are around to answer any questions, and to be sure no one touches anything. There was a small simulator ride there too.

If you like war history and planes...staff loved to share info & we were there when the owner took one of the planes up- very cool. Many are replicas but that didn't distract from seeing the evolution in history. Nothing else to do if planes bore you so I wouldn't tag along if they do...
