I have been to many aquariums and frankly it rates as one of the best. Being a fisherman it is good to see the fish in realistic habitats. My grandchild loves when she can touch the sea life.

We had a great time when we took our little one there and I cant wait until he is a little older so he can fully appreciate it.

A little expensive for the what was there. Young children (under 8) may delight in the animals and exhibits but it felt more museum like with all the information presented and general lack of animals for the rest of us. Certainly some cool exhibits like the Komodo dragons or shark tank but there just aren't as many "fish animals" as you might expect to see in an aquarium. We were a group of adults and it didn't seem worth it toys. The young children around us seemed to be enjoying themselves pushing all the buttons on the interactive portions of the aquarium (though not all exhibits were working!), older kids/Tweens/teens seemed somewhat bored. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly and I certainly learned more then expected. It could make for a good rainy day outing as there just isn't a ton to do in Virginia Beach on a rainy day.

I enjoyed the trails through the spacious grounds. I was happy to look at the view of the river (apparently if you get there in the early morning or late in the afternoon, you have a better chance of seeing birds and river otters. They have a river otter in the center itself. There are two buildings in the center, and an additional cost cruise of the Owl Creek area, and IMAX theater. Unfortunately the aviary is closed. I enjoyed the exhibits-meteor strike, local amphibians etc.
