“A hidden gem in a sea of average eateries”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2009

My wife and I went to Mannino's last night and we were really glad we did.We found out about it from the glowing reviews on this site so we thought we just had to try it.We started out with the calamari fritti which was piled high and perfectly cooked (not greasy or rubbery) served with a delicious marinara sauce. For our entrees we had the lump crab and spinach ravioli served in a delicious creamy tomato vodka sauce and the pollo alfredo(chicken ,sausage and sun-dried tomatoes in a garlic alfredo sauce served with fetuchini). Both entrees were perfectly prepared ,delicious ,and well portioned. The service from the greeting of the host staff to the wait staff was completely perfect from start to finish. We arrived without a reservation and they still seated us promptly(I recommend getting a reservation as I can't guarantee this will be the case with you simply because they don't have unlimited space and the place seems to be getting popular).Overall my only complaint would be that after eating all this delicious food(we had to take half of our entrees home) ,we didn't have room for desert.

“Best Italian Food in Tidewater”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2009

I am a very demanding diner, and I was amazed at the quality of food and service at Mannino's last week. The fare is not exotic; it tends toward traditional Italian dishes, but they are prepared with great care and presented graciously. We had a veal stack, veal piccata, and an appetizer of clams. My wife and I had a wonderful experience and will go back often. This is not only the best Italian food in Tidewater, it is one of the best restaurants in general. The only down side is that the tables can be a bit close together.

“Delizioso!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2009

Friends took us here for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised! This is one of the best Italian meals we've had in Virginia Beach! My husband had the veal parm and I had the clams linguine. Both were excellent!! The atmosphere was casual, the price was right, and sevice was friendly and efficient!

“Great Italian food--low key atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2009

My wife and I dined at Mannino's Friday evening for the first time. We had reservations and were seated proto. It is always fun to run into people you know and that happened as we entered the restaurant so that was fun too. The food was really great start to finish. We had a rock fish special with steamed/garlic brocolli that was spot on. Apps were right on time and the salads were very interesting too. We had sauteed calamiri in a butter sauce with some kind of bread in the bottom of the bowl and the bread was sooooo good. My wife had a glass of red wine for $5 that was really good. They speicalize in great wines that are reasonable. Hey we can go for that. Excellent experience.
