What an excellent way to celebrate the New Year! We were so impressed with the quality of food, service, and accommodations, that we are going back The Founders Inn very soon! Being from the service industry, I can appreciate what dedication it takes from employees to pull off this type of event! The staff here were dedicated 110% to ensuring the guests were well taken care of and went out of their way to ask how we enjoyed everything. The food was amazing! I enjoyed every dish I tried, and the brunch on New Years Day surpassed my expectations. Everything was prepared perfect and you could tell the ingredients used were of great quality and above all fresh! Kudos, to your kitchen staff for I know prepping for an event this large is time consuming and stressful at times, I was impressed when I met a back of the house kitchen employee who was so personable and really cared that we enjoyed the food! Our room was clean and comfortable with every amenity we needed at our fingertips. I loved the view from the window with the beautifully decorated grounds for the holidays. The inn was decorated beautifully and I was in awe of the spectacular Christmas Tree decorated with beautiful angels. The open spaces for relaxing by a fire were inviting and comfortable! My hats off to the entire staff at the Founders Inn for making our stay and New Years the best we've ever had! We really were amazed at the quality of the event and stay for the price we paid. See you soon!!!

We took a recent trip to the Founders Inn over the Christmas holiday and were more than pleased with our stay. The customer service was beyond fantastic, with the staff willing to meet our every request and desire. We had a king suite with fireplace that was adequate. While the hotel isn't modern in the aspect of decorating, it is clean and comfortable and decorated to reach the desired effect of being classified as a country hotel/lodge atmosphere. The room service was pretty terrible in taste and pricey, but we arrived late in Christmas night and did not have other options. So, stay away from that while you're there and check out their restaurants or one of the many off-site options. We plan on visiting/staying again soon.

We arrived at the Founders Inn last night for four days of relaxation and a break. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 7:30 pm, our room was NOT ready. The staff said they were sorry and that it would be just fifteen minutes. Twenty-five minutes later after wandering the hotel, we went back to the front desk and the room was still not ready. They again said they were sorry but until we asked did nothing to make us feel better. They offered us a coupon for free appetizers in the restaurant while we waited. Since we had eaten dinner, traveled for three and a half hours, and my husband was recovering from a bad cold, that wasn't something we really wanted.

After we asked they offered us breakfast for today , but it was not until 8:45 pm that we were finally able to get into the room. (This combined with a couple of less than helpful calls to the hotel aren't turning me into a big fan of the Founders Inn.)

The location leaves a lot to be desired unless you plan to just spend your time in the spa. There is easy access to the interstate but there is nothing within walking distance that has any appeal. The decor is very conservative and traditional. The service is excellent. The room was average size but very nice, clean and safe. We stayed in December at a deeply discounted rate so we got more than our money's worth. The indoor pool and hot tub are very nice. The complex is large and the pool area ended up being good distance from our room. We had to walk outside in the cold rain to get to and from the indoor pool area. Although we got a good deal on the room I would not likely stay there again. The hotel style and location were a turn off for us.

We were told by people living in the area that the restaurant in the spa had an excellent reputation. We were there only one night and did get a chance to dine there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the pool (spa) if you plan on using it.

The staff was the best I've encountered in a long time. The personal touches and acknowledgement was outstanding. The property was decorating for the holidays and the garden and lights created a special experience. The Flowering Almond Spa was the highlight of our stay. The setting they create is both welcoming and relaxing and the Massage Therapists (we did the couples massage) not only knew their craft, but performed it with care and personality. They make you forget that the rest of the world exists.

The Founders Inn and Spa is not a chain hotel. Its a great laid back, efficiently run hotel with a lot of distinct character to it. Southern hospitality. Warm greetings from all the staff. Great delicious food in their flagship restaurant the Swan Terrace. Spacious property. Two swimming pools, indoor and outdoor. The outdoor pool area has a separate children's pool with a circular slide for the kids! Which hotel did you visit recently that has this? The property overlooks a lake and there are English gardens around it. There are many fireplaces and couches to sit around the lobby - which itself is spread out in many different modular sections for intimate conversation (whether personal or business). They were decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas and you could tell they were taking great effort to make sure every single thing is done perfectly. There's also a large convention area attached to the hotel with many halls. Charming property. The staff is very pleasant and courteous. The Swan Terrace is a big restaurant, spacious, buffet for breakfast. Rooms are clean and well kept. Large area for parking. Tennis courts. Spa. Very well kept gym, large area, good machines. Overall a great place to relax.

Room Tip: If you want to get a room closer to the lobby and restaurants get them in the 40's range (exampl...

The experience at the Flowering Almond Spa was superb. The facilities are immaculate and first class. The Reflexologist, Brigitte Bryant Gottlieb, is a superior Massage Therapist with outstanding people skills. She makes you feel special. After having her once, you are guaranteed to go back over and over again. In addition, the other staff people are extremely friendly including Kathryn and Alicia.

The overall experience deserves national recognition. Not only do they offer healthy treats, and a nice fluffy white robe and slippers for you, but they conclude the massage session waiting for you outside of your door with a drink of water in their hand. You also get a nice heated bed to relax in during the session with relaxing meditation music in an impressive room. These folks know how to extend World Class treatment. It's an "absolute must visit" for anyone who travels to Virginia Beach. The price is worth every dollar!
