One thing I have learned, 99% of the time in life you get what you pay for. Our recent stay was the 1% where we got more. Don't misunderstand, this isn't the Waldorf. But for under 100 bucks it was a great deal. Yes, it has reached the point of needing updating. But it was very clean, parking deck was ample, the housekeeping staff did an excellent job, the cont. breakfast was very good (though some fresh fruit would be a welcome addition), checkin was quick and easy. Checkout was slowed a bit while we waited for a luggage cart (as best as I could tell they ony had three, so spend a few bucks and get a couple more). Overall, to get a good clean room with a king size bed with a balcony on the oceanfront for under 100 bucks a night it was a great deal. I will definitley consider staying here again.

I booked this hotel by accident. I thought I booked the other Econo Lodge where I have stayed before. I was somewhat disappointed when I found out that I booked the wrong hotel, but our stay turned out to be enjoyable. Everything went well. The room and bathroom were clean. The ocean view was beautiful! The hotel had continental breakfast, which was good. Unlike the other econo lodge, this hotel does not have free bike rental. It's not a huge deal since there are tons of bike rentals along the broad walk.
My only complain is that there is only one elevator which can be very slow during busy times.

Just stayed here for 4 nights this past week. I've stayed in several oceanfront hotels in the area over the past few years and tried this one for comparison. It was during a slower period, just before Labor Day when prices were lower and many families have already started back to school. We had a room on the first floor, which was very quiet with easy access to the beach or the street. We only had to use the elevator to access our car in the parking garage. The room itself was ok, though could have been more thoroughly vacuumed prior to our arrival, because we found nail clippings on the floor between the beds and popcorn under the beds. The room was small; we made it work for two adults and one child but any more than that would not have worked. Even just between us we were often in each other's ways. The pool is tiny, only 11 person capacity. We lucked out having it to ourselves the two times we used it, but I wouldn't count on using it much during the peak of summer. The free breakfast was ok. It would have been nice to see some fruit or yogurt options instead of so many bread products. Again, it's a small area to prepare your food in. It wasn't very busy when we were down there each morning, but you still had to be very careful not to bump into others waiting for or prepping their food. The location was excellent and probably the best part of the hotel. Overall, I would stay there again if budget was a main priority and it was not during the busy part of summer, but otherwise would pay more elsewhere to have a bit more room for comfort.

Checking out in an hour.Been here four days and the bed was never stripped and changed, only made.Housekeeping spend way to much time riding the elevator. There is only one and it can be slow to go up or down wasting very precious vacation time.Same with breakfast.Only one waffle iron and some people spent 25 full minutes making waffles for their family. An extra waffle iron located away from the other one would be nice.Again, time is gold and waiting 25 minutes to make one waffle is stupid.Have stayed in other close by hotels and asked for a late checkout. No problem.Econolodge wanted $10.00 per hour for every hour past 11am.We arrived a bit early(lunch time)and was not permitted to check in until 2:30.Never had an early check in problem upon arrival at other very nearby hotels.Pool is very small and seemed to be loaded with children all the time.Beach anyone??You get what you pay for here, nothing more.Bed was hard and pillows very small, not good sleeping here. That is my opinion.

VA Beach oceanfront hotels are very pricey, but the Econo Lodge is quite a bargain. I planned a last minute getaway for early August and found it to be quite acceptable. Room was clean, beds were very comfy, housekeeping and staff were very attentive and helpful. A few of the maintenance folks were a pleasure to talk to as they were scurrying off to resolve another issue. (Joseph)
We had an efficiency room (check the fridge settings and be prepared to lower so food doesn't freeze) which was great. There is no toaster, but one is available in the breakfast area. They do serve mainly carbs: bagels, waffles, cereals and coffee/juice. But we forgot cereal for the toddler, so this worked for us. :)
Indoor pool is very small and the only issue we had were with rude guests which happens anywhere.
Located near the middle of the Boardwalk stretch, we were able to walk or take the HRT bus everywhere. Very convenient!

Room Tip: Make sure balcony rail is dry before standing near - AC drips from above on some. Only one elevato...

Excellent location. Mr. Patel, mgr, and his staff were wonderful from the moment they assisted me with my reservation on the phone. Had 5 great nights sleep on comfortable beds. Have stayed at more expensive places that were less comfortable. My main request is that they stop using styrofoam at breakfast and offer perhaps some fruit. Breakfast was all sugars and carbs. Georgia, in housekeeping, was so kind and personable. Great beach access and great location by 22 nd st. We have previously stayed by the 15 th st pier which can be loud and too bright st night with amusement park so close. Thank you econolodge.
