A great, central location on Virginia Beach but she is a tired old beach hotel. It looks like they are doing some work on the hotel now but she needs quite a bit. I'm usuall not too picky but this one sure didnt' make me feel comfortable.

The hotel staff was so wonderful that I decided to stay even after they started renovations on their restaurant. The food was excellent and I enjoyed having a drink and a meal after work. I considered changing hotels once the renovation started but the staff treated me like family and I just couldn't leave. The hotel is in the perfect location in the middle of the VA Beach boardwalk and convenient to the local businesses as well as the interstate. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!! Special thanks to GM Mary Elizabeth as well as Jimmy, Katy, and the whole housekeeping staff.

We stayed here during the Shamrock Marathon 2011 and unfortunately it was going through some renovations. For the most part, I would not count that against a hotel that was trying to improve itself but most of the renovations were taking place in the restaurant area.

Service- The front desk was helpful, friendly and quick to check you in.

Parking- If you wanted to park at the hotel, you have to get there early or hopefully get lucky. They do have a secondary lot across the street but they do allow you to get your stuff up to your room if you have to park there. Depending on time of year you go, this could be somewhat of a zoo. If you do get lucky and get a premium parking slot,
stay there! The nice part is that most restaurants and some sights are within walking distance.

Room- Small but clean. All rooms are ocean front which is fantastic which overlook the boardwalk. Only caveat is that if its a busy weekend, you could hear the occasional drunken bufoons who like to be rather loud at night on the boardwalk (if you like to keep the patio door open to listen to the waves). Unfortunately, we had the rather loud idiots who decided to stop underneath the hotel for a spell. The bathrooms were small but clean and stocked. The hot water was a trick to get it working right for the shower. It seemed to be at extremes. It was difficult to get it just right. The room was also a bit dated. It had a tube TV with marginal reception. Many of the channels came in below standard def. You would think by now they would have some decent flat screen panels with some good quality reception for their channels. Good array of outlets if you had to plug in an iPhone or laptop. The Wifi was marginal but nothing to write home about. It had a small refrig but not microwave. The heating/AC was a bit loud when it came on.

The continental breakfast was barely ok. Standard fare. Coffee was available, if it was made. Bagels, cereal, the usual.

Pool area. It was ok. The jacuzzi tub was warm but could've been a couple degrees warmer. The area around the jacuzzi had either what was mold or a chemical reaction to the water/chemicals they put in the water. In any event it was green. They could've done a better job keeping it clean even if it wasn't mold. You don't have to use your room towels as towels are provided, so a plus there.

Odds and ends. Direct access to the boardwalk. They did offer some 20% coupons for a few surrounding restaurant due to the construction.

Overall impression: Would stay there again if in a pinch. It wasn't bad but not sure I would stay there for a whole week. A long weekend would be about perfect . That's what we did for the race.

I stayed at this Holiday Inn last September, the week of Labor Day. Officially the season was over, which worked out wonderfully for me in that stores and shops were still open but there weren't crowds on the beach or in the pool. However, the staff at this hotel seemed to have started slacking a bit. There was a damp washcloth in my shower when I checked in and dried shredded cheese on my balcony for three days. Nothing major, but irritating nonetheless. And front desk staff - just because you are behind that partial wall, you are not hidden. You can be seen both when guests are walking down the hall to the lobby and in the reflection in the glass behind you.
That being said, I really enjoyed my time there. Staff (and other guests) were friendly without being intrusive, the bed was comfortable, the view was great. The pools were beautiful, the water was clean, and (maybe due to the time of year) there were always plenty of lounge chairs and towels. Alcohol was a bit expensive, but that's to be expected on the beach. It's not exactly a cheap hotel, but I believe the stay was worth what I paid due to the location and amenities.

I came down to Virginia Beach to visit family. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything. Granted they are under construction for the restaurant & bar, but there are sooo many other restaurants & bars around the hotel!! The parking was tight and had to park across the street. Police monitored that lot so I felt great leaving my car back there. Best housekeeping staff!!!!! The front desk staff were also polite and friendly. The pregnant girl checked me in & out. Very lovely girl!!! The 2 breakfast girls were awesome! And I loved Sarita. She was so funny. Loved my stay and will definitely come back, Construction and all!

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night. The parking was awful and the restaurant was closed because of construction going on. There were bugs in the bathroom, which I reported to the front desk. They looked at me like I was speaking a foreigh language. The room was a good size, but the TV had a poor quality picture and the small sofa in the room was disgusting. Stained and threadbare in spots. I would not put my feet on the floor anywhere, or my things on the furniture. Everything was on a hook. No concessions were offered for the problems. I paid over $100 for this room. I will NEVERT stay at this hotel again.

They are working on the hotel and parking was very bad even though it was February. Several spaces taken up with construction equipment and dumpsters. It was a weekend, and they wanted overflow parking to be in a lot across the street where lots of the younger crowd was partying hardy. I felt pretty uncomfortable leaving my car there. Police parked around a club that hooked up to the parking lot. Was very unsure. It would probably be worse in season!
The Hotel itself has a few problems. You could see spots in the ceilings that are leaky. Hope that is what they are fixing. The elevators were filthy. The carpet in the elevators were covered with junk. The hotel smelled old and the floor we stayed on smelled of smoke, but was supposed to be a non-smoking floor.
Free continental breakfast was tough. Maybe due to construction, it was on the 2nd floor. The coffee is outside the room, so no matter, you have to leave the room to get coffee, if you want it. This was not a typical Holiday Inn breakfast. Frozen stuff and the microwave was not in the room, so you had to leave again to microwave. Oatmeal, but hot water not in the room or the microwave, so again, you went outside the room. Really not too great!
I probably would choose elsewhere, especially if this is off season and it was so rough, I can't imagine what it would be like in season! Not Holiday Inn's best effort!
Front desk was fine!
I could not get Wifi to work, but to be fair, I did not call the front desk and ask about it.
The motel is right on the board walk and the view from the balcony was wonderful. Location, if you want to right in the middle of it all, was perfect.
