As part of my wife and my holiday in New York and Virginia we stayed two nights at the Sugar Tree Inn in St Mary's cabin.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The cabin was of the highest standard, breakfast was excellent (special mention must be made of the baked oatmeal!), and Jeff and Becky went out of their way to help two visitors 'from the old country ie UK' feel so much at home. Wifi in main part of the inn was good for us to keep in touch with family.
Would recommend to anyone - was very careful the first time I negotiated the private road to the inn - large SUV, driving on the wrong side of the road etc but after a couple of times drove it like a native!!

This is a lovely place to stay, tucked away in the woods of Virginia, a short drive from the Blue Ridge Skyline Drive.. We were made very welcome on arrival and given our snack box, which we had ordered a few days before as there are no restauarants nearby. Our room was in a building just a short walk from the inn it was very clean, warm and had everything we needed. There is a veranda outside the room and it was our intention to sit on the veranda with a bottle of wine and our snack box but unfortunately it rained the all time we were there.
Breakfast was brilliant with far more than we could possibly eat. We would have loved to stay another night but time did not allow.
During the night there must have been quite a storm, though we did not notice tucked up in our cabin, as on the way down to the main road we had to pick our way through numerous branches that had blown down into the road!!
The Sugar Tree Inn is highly recommended.

We returned after ~5 years to see that it was as good as we remembered.

The driveway was as exciting as we remembered. If it was a ski trail, it would be an expert slope.

We both remembered the 'secret recipe' baked oatmeal that accompanies breakfast and were glad it was still part of the meal.

Everything was as good or better than last time.

Highly recommended!

If plans permit, we'll be back.

This B&B is the perfect spot to get away for a weekend or a few days and enjoy the quiet of the woods. Situated on a hillside with small, comfortable rooms - many with decks to sit on and enjoy the woods. Short drive from hiking in the Blue Ridge or exploring Lexington or Staunton, VA.
Be sure to enjoy one of their delicious dinners on Friday or Saturday nights along with the great breakfasts. Plenty of wildlife to take in as well.

My husband & I had a nice stay at the SugarTree Inn to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed dinner (watching the deer out the window) & our breakfast was excellent as well. Our room was comfortable (one of the King suites) & the owners were very hospitable & welcoming. The inn is nicely secluded & private & yet still close to civilization! The cookies they bake to enjoy anytime of day were amazing!
