This was a great little find we made! This is a terrific tavern out in hills of horse country. We've been 2 or 3 times now and the food has always been good. We haven't been in winter yet, maybe we'll try next month for the inside experience. It looks nice and colonial style. Should be cozy. The outside seating in the courtyard is very nice with good furniture and umbrellas and trees all around. The service has always good and friendly. This tavern works British style where the orders are placed by walking up to the bar and then the food is brought out to the table. Everything we've had their has been very good whether traditional pub food or specials. It's a nice place to spend a leisurely couple of hours over good food and drink.

Hunter's Head is my favorite place in the area. I have to say I love pub style places and I love historic buildings - so if that is what you like, it might be for you. They also have all locally sourced and organic food from the owner's farm and the region. The food quality is great. In the winter - make a reservation for dinner on weekends - there isn't tons of space without the outdoor seating area. I love the food selection - it is rustic. If you like Shepherd's Pie or Bangers and Mash, or great steaks and salads, this is for you. Also, the bread and butter is fantastic! Desserts are great too. It isn't white glove service - so if that is what you are looking for it might not be for you, but it is fantastic rustic food in a beautiful historic building with a British flair.

I've eaten at this Tavern about 12 times in 6 years. Recently had their tea service with a girlfriend. If you want natural food, freshly bought and served, from area farmers, you must dine here. For that hard-to-fill-spot in dining choices, you won't go wrong. There is a daily menu, a regular Pub menu, Breakfast brunch, and Tea service on occasion.
Atmosphere: Intimate, cozy, upscale but not stuffy.
Cost: Extremely reasonable for the quality.
Choices: Varied yet not overwhelming. Caution! Do NOT eat their bread-you CANNOT stop.
Location: WONDERFUL journey into classic hunt country, and beyond a bit, to the red phone booth!
The only knocker would be their tables, for two. They are quite small. You are seated facing the other person and your plates almost touch.
This is the ONLY CHOICE for special occasions - it was our first date, and now our anniversary Tavern!

We're lucky to have the Hunter's Head in our neighborhood. The owner is a good person and this restaurant is a fine contribution to the area, almost a living room treating us to her hospitality. This is amongst our go-to places and it never disappoints, whether for a casual meal or a formal holiday dinner. If you pay this place a visit, relax and enjoy. It's informal, for the most part, but up to the task whatever your needs. Look for the English phone booth outside if you have trouble finding it.
