“Very good service, smallish room”
Reviewed March 12, 2010

I stayed here for 11 nights in February 2010. I checked in late and was given a nice, but very small (New York City sized) hotel room. I was there during the blizzard, and when I found out I would be stuck in the hotel the entire weekend, the staff moved me to a larger suite. The concierge lounge is large, and has a better food spread than most Marriotts. The restaurant downstairs, Shula's, is also very good, but pricey. Great location near the beltway and two upscale shopping malls. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Tysons Corner Marriott for 2 nights with our 7 yr old daughter. It is about a 25 minute drive from the DC National Mall attractions, and about 5 minutes from the Metro Rail Station.

Hotel staff was very friendly at check in and at the Shula's restaurant (we had the buffet breakfast included in our rate both mornings). Room was spacious with a king and fold out couch for our daughter, Pretty good selection or restaurants nearby. Would defintely stay here again on our next trip to DC.

almost forgot - parking is FREE. They have an outdoor lot, and a garage as well.

we got upgraded to Exceutive floor with free breakfast (great!). Rooms are excellent Marriott Standard, clean and great beds - recently renovated

This hotel has a nice indoor pool and was the only hotel with a Sauna on our 3 weeks US-trip stayig in 4* hotels on the Eastcoast.

Highly recommended (priceline)

We stayed here for two nights while visiting D.C. and it was a wonderfully comfortable place. The staff was very friendly, they went out of their way to see to our comfort. The trip back and forth to Washington wasn't bad at all. We are used to traffic and it was a holiday weekend , so it was not too bad. The only negative was the wifi was not complimentary and the fee was $12.95 a day, but everything else was really nice.

My wife and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at this property. We originally were booked for the Ritz Carlton, but decided to change to the Marriott a few days before our trip. We were afraid that we would find the "service" at the Ritz Carlton a little overbearing (we like to dress casual, don't like valet parking, and we don't need all that attention). Despite the late arrival, there were quite a few people checking in at the same time. The process was fast, efficient and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and the bedding quite comfortable. We were completely surprised the next morning by a complementary fruit basket with a Happy Anniversary card signed by the staff. The location was perfect for sightseeing (West Falls Church metro is 5 minutes away by car). There is a Shula's Steakhouse in the hotel. The food is excellent but a bit on the pricey side.

Finally, the rates in the Tyson's area are much lower than anywhere in the DC area. Granted, you aren't directly on the Metro, but I don't see paying 33%-50% more to be in the Crystal City area.

Pros: Excellent Staff, good location (corner of VA 7 and I-495, 5 min from W Falls Church Metro), clean and comfortable room, plenty of free self-parking
Cons: Smaller Rooms (compared to other hotels in area), Restaurant on the pricey side

This is an excellent hotel in the Tyson's Corner location. Rooms were well-appointed, the service was great. There's plenty of parking, and an excellent shuttle service that works on demand to get you to the Metro, shops, or other nearby sites. The beds were comfortable, although a bit on the soft side. The rooms are a bit of a tight fit for a family of 4, but overall very nice. It is just a little tricky to get to the hote from the main roads, so look carefully at the map in advance.

I stayed at this hotel in April 2009. Even though there was a conference center inside the hotel, we went offsite everyday in the morning and didn't return until 5pm. I rented a car, which made things easier. But most of my colleagues did not have a car and was stuck once we got back to the hotel.

The PROs: The hotel is clean and is located right next to a mall. It's got a supermarket about 2 miles away (Whole Foods) and is a 30-minute drive to DC, so it's good for sightseeing. The mall made dinner and passing time easier. It's pretty big and it's got a movie theater. Free internet only in the lobby. Avis car rental on site.

The CONs: For the price that my company paid (>$200/night), I expected much more. Internet in the room was an extra cost. The King-size rooms were smaller than the double beds - almost claustrophobic. The breakfast buffet was $16 that you can probably get at Micky-D's for $3.99. No restaurants within walking distance other than an Olive Garden. Housekeeping tends to take care of your rooms late in the day if you're not on the right rotation. I once came back at 5pm and walked in on the lady making my bed.

Summary: If you're looking for a clean hotel, this is it. Do rent a car. However, I wouldn't stay at this hotel if my company didn't pay for it. I think there are better values out there in Tysons Corner.

TIP FOR INTERNET ACCESS: Once you activate your free internet access in the lobby, you can take your computer back to your room and it'll still work until the expiration time (2 hours from activation). When it expires, go down to activate it again. It's a pain, but it'll save you ~$13 each day.
