“Good Business Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Just fine for a business trip. We reserved a block of rooms, and had no issues. Room was clean and comfortable. Parking was convenient and free for guests. Bar was small, but service was good. Pool area and gym were open early.

For some reason they don't show up in GPS (tried 2 different systems) and don't have any instructions to notify people of that. Wasted an hour trying to find it, called the hotel and they weren't much help.
By the time I got there, room service was closed and I gave up and went somewhere else.

With easy access to the Capital Beltway, the Dulles Airport Access Road, and Interstate 66, the Tysons Corner Marriott is positioned perfectly for a trip to the DC area. Throw in the fact that the Marriott is walking distance from the Tysons Corner Center indoor shopping mall, and a very, very short drive from the Tysons Galleria and the Tysons Square Shopping Center, and you really have a hotel with access to anything you might be looking for.

Service was good, the room was clean although small, well equipped with a flat screen TV, sitting chair, small desk, refrigerator and in-room safe, and parking was $6 per night. The restroom was nice, with granite surfaces and a shower enclosure clean enough for us to wonder if it was recently renovated.

The only (minor) downsides to our stay were, 1) the fact that such good access to connecting roads did lead to some traffic noise, especially when emergency vehicles drove by, it didn’t interfere with our sleep, and is a reasonable price to pay for convenient access (but warning to sensitive sleepers), and 2) too much water pressure in the shower. The water pressure thing sounds ridiculous, since I would normally use that as a great positive, but I am convinced that the Marriott is for some reason using shower heads designed for lower pressure. What you end up with is a stinging stream of water that is not terribly comfortable, and leads to a shower dance to prevent the water from hitting the same spot for too long. If they would install a different shower head, I bet the showers would be fantastic. In the end though I would take a too forceful shower over a weak pressure every time.

Stayed for a week and was given access to the concierge club room which meant inclusive breakfast. This is just as we'll as the eatery in the hotel is very expensive and I begrudged even my business account paying for food there. Local to Tysons Corner Mall if that's your thing. Staff were efficient and friendly, rooms were fine, so all in all did the job for my business stay.

Got there and couldn't pull up and leave the car anywhere to check in, had to park across the street, haul our bags across. Took quite a while to check in as they only seem to have one person working even in the middle of the afternoon when lots of people waste showing up. Rooms are clean but a little dated. No fan in the bathroom. They charge you a lot for wifi and even though I was atta dding a conference there they did not provide wifi for the conference either. No breakfast, they have a little shop with nothing in it for food and what bad food is left if vey overpriced. The last day of the conference everyone's wifi they payed for got shut off in the middle because they were automatically checked out and they would not let anyone get wifi after that. Useless to hae a buisness conference where no one can connect. Will not stay here or have any sort of event here again. The staff that was there was trying but there were way to few and the policies of marriot are terrible.

the hotel is ideally located very very close to the Tysons Mall, VA and with the free shuttle service provided by the hotel - you are saved the trouble of finding parking. Indoor pool is good and clean , but being summer, we would have preffered to be outside. The room size is very very small...for a marriott room, i found this surprising. there is a starbucks and and a steakhouse on the lobby level, an AVIS car rental in the basement...but other that that there is nothing special about this hotel. Nothing fancy. but if you are looking for a clean, safe hotel while you spend the entire day at the mall --- this is the place for you.

Room Tip: All rooms face either the highway or the mall....so dont expect a scenic view.

We stayed here this past weekend as part of a wedding. We got an excellent rate on the rooms since we were part of the wedding block. The hotel rooms were clean and modern, and our shower had great water pressure. The rooms include an iPhone dock, so we could charge our phones and listen to music at the same time. The hotel is convenient to several major highways in Northern Virginia, making it easy to get to and from airports. It is also less than a mile from Tyson's Corner Mall.
This Marriott is in the heart of one of the major business hubs in Northern Virginia. That being said, it is a hotel better suited to business travelers than tourists. Everything cost something--nothing was included in the price of the hotel. I tried to connect to wi-fi from my phone, and I was prompted to pay $12.95--no thanks. Also, on Saturday night after the wedding, about 20 of us attempted to go back to Shula's, the hotel bar, to continue the festivities, and we were turned away well before typical closing time in Virginia. Friday night we spent time there after the rehearsal dinner, and they were understaffed, resulting in harried, rude service. Who under-staffs a hotel bar on a holiday weekend? I don't get it...they missed out on making quite a bit of money.
Oh and lastly: their check-in time is 4 PM, which I find to be very late. However, we were able to check in at 1 PM, which was nice. The front desk staff was courteous and gracious. Parking is convenient but costs $6 a day.
Bottom line: nice hotel at a fair price, but best suited for business travelers.
