This was a fantastic getaway weekend. We got there just as the federal government shutdown ended so that we could go on the national parks. We rented all the cabins as we had a large group of about 40 people. We had nightly bonfires and ate under the full moon and we told tales that you don't read about in books. It was so nice we did not want it to end. Wanda and the sateff at the cabins were top-notch. We are heading back next year!

Room Tip: Make sure you download and print all the trail maps to all the area federal parks - there are severa...

I'm afraid I might not be willing to let the cat out of the bag about this place if I lived closer and could return easily. We stayed in Richard's Retreat for three nights and the experience was wonderful. In fact, when pouring rain kept us inside for an entire day, we actually counted it as a blessing. We playing games and worked one of the puzzles kept in the bookshelf. This is an entirely comfortable, homey, clean place. The only warning note I would sound is that it is about 45 minutes to the National Park entrance. (However, it is right by the fabulous Crabtree Falls, as advertised.) As long as you are aware of the location, the lodgings can't be beat!

We recently rented all of the cabins for 27 wedding guests to stay after our friends wedding at Pharsalia, and we couldn't be more thrilled by the experience! Our stay at the Cabins at Crabtree was beyond excellent! I could not recommend a place to stay more highly! Beth Anne (the property owner) was extremely flexible, easy to work with and accommodating in more ways then one. She was quick to respond and was a great reference, allowing everything to go smoothly! I only wish that Beth Anne and her family owned more properties to rent out around the country, that's how easy it was to work with her!

Upon arrival at the cabins we were greeted by the property managers: Wanda and Harvery who are friendly, outgoing and were also extremely accommodating! The cabins were cozy, clean and in great condition! Each cabin is unique and all of them have their own charm, it was exciting to explore each place! It was a beautiful way to enjoy our weekend celebrating our friends marriage. We are definitely planning on staying here again and could not have imagined receiving such great hospitality on all fronts!
If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay, or a great place to have a reunion this is definitely the way to go! We are truly appreciative of everything and couldn't have asked for anything better! -The Beebe Wedding Guests

We arrived at Annie's Cabin after a few whirlwind days of city visits and a wedding, ready for a little peace and quiet. Annie's Cabin was absolutely the right choice. The location just a short walk from the Falls is delightful. You can see the road from the porch, but as only one car passes about every hour it really doesn't matter at all. We spent our evenings on the porch, looking up at the mountain opposite, and listening to the cicadas and Whip-poor-wills - heavenly. The cabin is charming and very comfortable. The kitchen is sparsely stocked, but with just about everything you're likely to need (apart from a corkscrew, so we left one there for the next folk!). The beds are super-comfy and the bedroom itself just delightful - felt like being in the Waltons!
And all of this is accompanied by miles and miles of wonderful walks - Crabtree Falls, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway - you could walk every day for a month and not cross the same path twice.I loved Annie's Cabin, and was really sad to leave. If you fancy a bit of relaxing, simple living in magical surroundings - then it's for you.

I had a large group of hikers and kayakers with me, and we booked all the cabins on a weekend. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are all returning. We hiked the nearby Crabtree Falls, the most scenic place in Virginia, and hiked up Spy Rock, to see how the soldiers spied on one another during the Civil War. And we had hot tub parties and bonfires and progressive dinners at the cabins. All under a full moon. It was a diamond in the rough. We all had a marvelous time.

Room Tip: Rustic and secluded in the middle of a national forest.
