This hotel was a great find and perfect for our needs. The staff was very welcoming. The room was spacious, attractive, and new with an extremely comfortable bed. The counters were granite which was a surprise. The included breakfast was delicious and the room was quite large, bright and relaxing, the latter in spite of the frequent turnover of guests. I liked the nook where one can have complimentary access to a computer because it gave you some privacy, but I could not print maps because the printer couldn't deal with large files. This has probably been remedied by now. They had an attractive pool deck, but it had not opened for the season.
The hotel had the advantage of easy access to and from Interstate 81 and was an easy drive into Blacksburg for the graduation activities. We plan to stay there again next year for another graduation.
Hint: Make your reservation early for any college/university big weekends, especially graduations, because there are limited rooms in the valley area and there are many graduations the same weekend. We recommend this because the kind and patient front desk team ended up trying to help a seemingly endless stream of folks find rooms at other hotels including those not affiliated with Intercontinental because there were no rooms left with any of their affiliates. However, those folks would have a long, long drive to find the rooms.
