We had the pasta special and a salad, and it was very good, and had a clean flavor to it. Not overdone and all the ingredients were simple and very fresh. The service was top shelf, and at the same time low-keyed. People at the other tables were friendly to us, even though we were not locals...that was nice. Interesting artwork on the walls. We felt as if we had stepped back in time a bit. Quite enjoyable. On Open Table if you need it. Thank you Rail Stop!

The historical restaurant was recommended by realtor, was not the favorite of next door neighbor, if it was upto her, other place that only serves dinner, she wished was open for luncheon, but did say this will be OK and she was right. Scallops and Malceb was good, but soup was terrible so the average or good, was not given the option of 3.5 stars, it was 3 or 4 stars option.

Chef/Owner Tom Kee makes Maryland proud and his gourmet menu is incredible. All Breads, Pastas and Desserts are made on site along with other items to help create a top dining experience. The Stir Fry of Fresh Roasted Lobster is topped only by the Pan Seared Sea Scallops. I strongly recommend dining here for Brunch. Lunch or Dinner!

About an hour west of the Washington Beltway is the exit of I-66 for Middleburg and The Plains. Middleburg is very posh but sometimes on a very off-day you can get into a posh pub (or just go down the street to several less-posh locations). At least that was our plan. But we were sort of pressed for time and Middleburg is several miles off the freeway, so we decided to turn around in the first convenient place which happened to be a road intersection populated with quaint and inviting restaurants and shops - even the gas station makes a very nice pizza! This intersection is called The Plains and we'll be back.

The Rail Stop has excellent, creative food exquisitely prepared and presented. How can you say that about a cup of chili? Go see for yourself. We were also very pleased with a gorgeous lunch salad topped with perfectly cooked steak. Now these were daily specials but with this sort of quality you'll probably enjoy whatever the special is the day you go. And you will save a big bundle of money compared to driving further up to Middleburg.
